2020 Shelby GT500 CFTP Track Day with 360 roof camera! (video)

I head out to MSR Cresson on well worn SC2 tires with a GoPro 360 Max camera slapped on the roof for a unique look at a track day. I also have another GoPro recording the digital dash which is then inlayed in the 360 footage. I was in the advanced group with a green light to pass anywhere on the track, including in the turns with a point-by. You'll see the black flag... I wasn't sure if it was for me or not. I hope you enjoy this amazing track experience!

OP you see the video from Billy Johnson or was it another Ford racing driver, they were keeping up with a Ford GT in the GT500. I cant find the video its short and was on FB.

Don’t recall seeing that one, but Billy is an excellent driver. The 2020+ GT500 does have Ford’s highest horsepower production engine ever! The car is a track beast! Of course the Ford GT is low/light/quick. The new GT500 does things on the track that a big beast of a car should not be able to do. The Porsche guys always seem to be the most surprised at the GT500 hanging out in their rear view mirror.

Whats meaningless about it, GT500 is heavy af and still did pretty decent.

Frigg’n awesome! That looks like Joe Gatt’s car, who I assume was filming from the right seat. What’s even more impressive is Joe is a big dude adding even more weight!

360 cam is cool, going to look into one

The 360 cam is very cool! I’ve made a few videos with it, but this was the 1st with it up on the roof at the track. It changes how you film… you are no longer concerned with what is in frame as the camera records in 360. You use the app after the fact to pan to and look at whatever you’d like.

GT500 does great, yes. But it can be a meaningless metric if the GT driver is just some guy. You can see 25+ second/lap deltas between a pro and some newb

But in this case, that car was professionally driven too and I assume Joey was dialing down a bit to cat and mouse Billy. Still a fun video.
