If you're buying a boat, MPG doesn't matter lol.

I'd get a used Mastercraft X30. You should find one in the $30,000-$40,000 range in the 2004-2005 era.
I used to see around 0.75MPG when running off shore. That was about 29GPH running at 22kts.
ok
With wakes engaged:
Malibu 24 MXZ 26 gph
Centurion RI 257 14 gph

Couple things and I'll stfu and leave

1 - Boat = hole in the water you throw money in to
2 - Two happiest days of a boat owner's life: day he buys the boat and the day he sells the boat
3 - it's better to know a friend with a boat and pay for beer and gas than it is to own a boat
4 - if you have a boat you know what you're doing every weekend: most of the time working on it or out on the water with it

Good luck with finding what you want. It's hard to beat life on the water

Posts and likes are not mine.

Boats are great, because of the implication...

$100? Try $250 at 26gph.

What I’m saying is why buy a boat that uses 26gph vs one that uses 14gph. $130 vs $250 just in gas expenses for a day in the lake. That could be $3-5k a season in fuel savings. That pays for your boat in 10 seasons....
Just saying if you're spending $40k on a boat that $100 a weekend isn't going to be the breaking point between one over the other.

As a person who had 24/7 access to a boat every summer growing up but is now a functioning adult without waterfront property, be 100% honest with yourself about how often you'll use the boat. Will you be able to store it on your property, or will you have to pay for storage elsewhere? If paying for storage, will it be dry storage, or a wet slip? Most importantly, and be honest with yourself, how often will you use it? Many times, if you do the math, renting a boat when you want to use one comes out WAY cheaper than owning one, as expensive as they are to rent. Another way to look at it is, if you own a boat, you're gonna ****in use the boat, to the exclusion of all other weekend activities, because you own a boat. If that's the life you want and the life you can accomodate, then have at it.

Whatever the number! $100-$250? You're fighting over $150 when the guy is gonna spend $40k? He's not concerned about a few hundo in gas... If you're that caught up in it then ask him about his tow rig and see how much he'll save in a gas tow rig vs. a diesel. It doesn't matter, if you can afford the boat you can afford the fuel, if not; swim from the shore and catch the waves as the other boaters go by and save $40k.

Why spend twice as much on gas if you don’t need to?

You haven't lived until you put $1,500 worth of diesel in the tanks.

I own a Malibu LSV23 and we load the boat pretty full with adults and water. I can surf a full day taking a break for lunch and only burn 32 gal max. That does not equate to 14 gph much less 26.

I have a 2017 24' Yamaha Jet boat. In 3 years I have changed the oil twice, that is all of the maintenance it has taken. Fires up every time, uses 10-12 GPH doing 50 mph. It pulls a tube/skier without an issue. Winterizing it takes 10 mins. It uses 2 jetski 1.8L motors.

Previous boat was a 06 crownline 20' with the 5.0 in it. I hated working on that one and it took 1/2 a day to winterize it every year. Plus I could never get it to not vapor lock in August.

We have a lake house and use our boat 2-3 weekends a month from April through September.

I have the same experience with my sx-240. The only thing I had problem with is the drain plug needs a little silicon spray to make it easy to install

I've owned my Four Winns for 14 years. Great manufacturer and I'd do it all over again. Best family time you will ever have. The Volvo outdrives are good but I'd go with a Mercruiser. I have the 350 Mag (LS1) with the Bravo 3 outdrive. Mercruiser makes it easy to flush the water out of your block and other maintenance tasks are easier on it as well.

I'm not a fan of Mercruiser. I have a pair of 6.2 MPIs and everything Mercruiser added to the base SBC is a pain to work on and mostly stupidly engineered. The best inboard gas engines going now are Ilmor. For older stuff, give me Crusaders any day.
