So, you don't like the car because it's heavy....but still outperforms everything? lol

Bit of irony with his posts.

Looks like he is restoring a 97 Cobra from ground up. I think that is what he is comparing the GT500 to considering there is about a 1,000LB difference between his car and the new GT500.

However, there is also 22 years of engineering and technology between both.

Physics are physics, but, why are Hellcats getting faster and faster on the street in stock form with weighing so much? Why is the GT500 absolutely killing it on the track and the drag strip even though it weighs so much?

If he can explain that one, I'm all ears.

that's a retarded oversimplification of my argument. i see it as the poor man's bugatti which isn't an insult but rather a commentary on its achievements and limitations. I don't like overly complex things. this is definitely one of those.

So, this car is too complex for you? Got it.

2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 First Drive Review | What's new, performance, Corvette comparison

Cammisa said:
And around a racetrack, the Corvette wouldn’t have a chance. Not in speeds, laptimes, or handling behavior. I know, I've driven one. But that’s still a comparison test that needs to be done — because if initial impressions are to be trusted, the real performance bargain for 2020 isn’t the C8 Corvette, it’s the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

I guess it's quite good.

this reminds me of a great movie scene.

i'm sure your fuzzy little head can figure out what I mean from what quigley says at 2:30.

...

I'm not making fun that you don't like the sophistic parts of the car.... I'm making fun because your first statement said you don't like it and won't support it because it's heavy.

If it came in at 6000lbs and ran a 10.6 1/4 at 130+...I wouldn't give a damn haha

You ever been with a 'bigger' chick?

Impressive!

However all the talk of it beating a Demon can be put to rest.

I'm surprised you're able to say anything with all that crow you're eating.

Who says this can't beat a stock Demon? What does a showroom Demon run?

its definitely a cool car but i can't get behind something so porkish. weight ruins everything.

I love when people act like cars are designed in a vacuum. You realize they didn't design everything with ZERO consideration to weight, don't you? The fact is, there are certain critical features of the car that can't be compromised. Weight likely isn't very high on that list compared to, say, safety.

You should read the comments. Pretty funny seeing people lose their ****.
Lol Apparently 0-60 is the only metric.

Ignore the 10.6s at 1000' or the 10.90s at 4100'.

I didn't think this car would run this well to be honest. I can see it going 10.3s with a DR in decent air and potentially a 10.1 with DRs and mineshaft air.

interested to see what it does on a tire yet alone tune/pulley

Why anyone thought this was gonna be a light weight car is beyond me. If you can afford a 75k track toy you should be able to afford the consumables involved in racing a heavy car.

Seems like you (and others) have mistaken a frowning on their prioritization with what ought not be compromised in a sports car. The platform in 2015 was too heavy and that is why the 2020 car with more of everything is too heavy. maybe its the right marketing call or the right GT car experience call.

somebody asked me the other day why I'm building a 20 year old cobra instead of buying a new car. one part is bang for the buck and experience but another part is that these days there is so much insulating us from the road and I want something with less of that in my life. its not that I can't deal with complex systems, I'm a software engineer all I DO is deal with complex systems. I just want a car to be a car. not a spaceship. maybe that'll change but right now that's where i'm at.

Haha

I’d rock a base car if I were Shelby shopping at this point.

Hopefully as the reviews continue, especially the head to heads with contenders, the car continues to show itself in a positive light.
