How so? All we have is paper specs not real world. Until then anything can happen.

The 900-1000 lb weight penalty the GT500 pays is going to be the great differentiator.... not to mention all the other obvious stuff (engine layout, shared DCT trans, lower CG, etc etc).

Very valid points I do agree, and I can see more of a 700lbs difference at most with an optioned up Z51. That will add more over the base C8

Nice, man. You are a lucky guy.

Should be a riot!
Not discrediting the Vette by any means. I was so close to getting a C7 ZR1 at a hell of a price that was sitting for 9 months. The price and the color is what stopped me.

Therefore I always have been a fan of mustangs since I could drive, and Shelbys name attached to it means something more I guess. Both cars have made strides for the better in the consumers eyes. Yes the C8 mid engine is that better stride in comparison when you look at both on paper.

The GT500 will be a performer that is for sure, even though not a lot of proof is out there backing that claim up right now. But I really hope GM would not pull another Dodge Demon failure and state it will do this xxx of time and not be the case.

I agree with everything you said, except the Demon comment. Demon, just like the C8, is a game changer.

Dodge KILLED it with the Demon.

On another note, no doubt the 500 will be a performer. SVT never disappoints.

It looks so much better than the c7. I think this massive change is what the Corvette needed to attract new buyers.

If I didn't need a back seat for my son, it would be high on my list. Especially if the z06 is a wide body.

The gt500 is a big let down in my opinion. Heavy big blower car...nothing new or exciting imo. Would have loved a 5.2 with twin turbos and a diet. Then I would be excited.

The Vette looks like a lot of fun and is certainly unique.

They did of course, a 4400lb whale lol does what it does? But from what I have heard and seen is no one has duplicated the 9.65 1/4 time. I forgot what the current list shows but there are a few maybe that did get a tad under 10 sec. This was couple months ago anyway.

See I love the look of the C7 ZR1 way more than this current C8 Stingray. That most likely will change if GM does make a ZR1 version of this chassis. But yes that too is how many years they go with basically the same look and minor cosmetic changes. Not to mention they flood the markets with these any means possible with 15-20% off msrp at times.

I would say the GT500 is more a disappointment rather than a let down, which could yet to be seen as well. I think Ford should have certainly focused on getting this thing lighter somewhere somehow! The excuse obviously is "Price", but I think to some degree it could have been done. Other than that I love how it sounds, looks and getting a 7 speed DCT.

This always comes down to what the wise King from the land of Faa has to say about the New Vette. Everyone waited patiently for his proclamation and then he said it........the New Vette was a very nice car. You could then hear throughout the land, "the New Vette is a very nice Faa King car.

Many at 9.8 completely stock to the tire.

The 9.65 is what the car is capable of MAX effort, hero run. BONE STOCK with warranty. It is absolutely insane to have a 9 sec capable street car with warranty.
