Not only did it not seem any faster than the GT350R from a couple years ago, it also didn't seem AS fast as the GT350R. Then again, Vaun Gitten is a drifter, not a driver. Neither car was driven "properly" at their respective events. Ford gives us the best Mustangs they've ever produce, and what do the drivers do? Giant, smokey burnouts instead of showing us what the cars are actually meant to do.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is not a serious event, it is a showcase that is sometimes driven at a higher effort if the person or manufacturer is trying to beat the record like VW did, but even then that car was likely well under 100% driven. It can be driven hard but the course is not set up to be driven like a truly competitive event. The barriers are hay bails and the crowd is right behind them.

Going balls out in a $15-$20 million dollar car, with zero nannies or driver aids. The 2nd run @ 2:20 is nuts.

Not saying that some of these guys dont go balls out but the majority of the cars go through to just put on a show. It's usually the professional racecar drivers that end up doing the full runs for best time. I like seeing the old drivers in get in the early 1900s buggies having them drifting the corners and pushing them hard like they were when they were relevant back in the day. It was just clear that Vaughn's run in the GT500 was more for show than a full on timed run on it.

Not to mention cold tires, cold brakes and dusty inconsistent surface

Meh, I don't put a lot of stock into Goodwood. Can be fun to watch at times, but otherwise meh.

I mean, there has to be a reason that nobody touts Goodwood times.

I think it is one of the coolest events just by the sheer number of cars there and the rarity of many of them along with the fact that you get to see them ran hard usually.

It's all right the z06 has temps of 270+. Those cars are known to overheat and heat soak. Puny blower + inefficient front bumper vents and not enough coolers to cool engine and transmission (a8) down.

Gt500 will probably have 1-2 fast laps but being supercharged will need to cool down. I'm really impressed with how GM kept the weight down on the ZL1 if this new gt500 is over 4000lbs.
Shit, a zl1 would be a nice daily driver.

I have hit 280 F oil temps multiple times in my ZL1 when I run 20+ miles on the road course at 90+ F temps, but I run 5W-40. Oil samples are always perfect.

Yes, the ZL1 is a nice daily.

How often are you changing oil? Mine is dirty after two track days but it is an old junkyard motor.

Ain’t feeling it. That’s the fully optioned one too. Meh. GT350R is the best looking s550 imo.

This car can handle! Based on the video the Delta B and diagonal load dispersion through the 75 degree radius of the curve is .072. Moreover, if we take the formula: Delta 1/3 cosign tangent alpha we get a very capable vehicle.
What does all this mean?
