The Cayenne is just the superior choice for zoom zoom, and the GTS can turn turn. Mine is a 957 so it has the throaty V8, but the new 6 is fantastically better in all regards, except dat V8 grrrrowl

And you are 100% correct about Turbo S and to a lesser extent Turbo models- its like getting a reservation at the finest restaurant.

I have a Hellcat and a Grand Cherokee. I've been tempted to combine them and get a Trackhawk. I agree with the OP the price is stupid for what it is. If a nicely optioned Trackhawk was between 70-80k I would strongly consider it. My wife primarily drives our Jeep and it's a great vehicle. It has a ton of room on the inside and is great in the snow. I was recently in the market for another SUV to use as my DD. I ended up going with a loaded Explorer Sport. It's not comparable to a Trackhawk, but it's fun with just about every option offered and was well under 50k. I would have serious concerns about owning a Trackhawk out of warranty.

My old 14 JGC SRT felt underwhelming until over 1000 miles, I can only imagine a supercharged version having an even greater delta.

I remember thinking the truck was peppy, but not as fast as I thought the old WK1 SRT8’s were. After doing the hard break-in procedure, the car became very aggressive on everything except highway pulls (can’t fight physics).

Nailing it from a stop always had my passengers screaming, but I remember a few times flooring it at ~20mph and there would be a moment of calm as the tranny downshifted and then all hell would break loose. I’d often look in the rear view mirror and see people on the street turning around to see wtf was causing the ruckus.

Definitely one of the overall nicest vehicles I’ve owned.

I'm pretty sure the Z06 and Grand Sport cars limit you as well. Physically limit you. It won't rev past 3k or something like that till break in period.

All C-7's and trim lines limit your redline to about 5250 until you hit 500 miles then you are to drain the break in oil and put in synth. ESP 0-40W until about 5000 miles between changes. It is neat watching the central tach redline shrink from it's 5000 setting to the 6500 setting when 500 miles hit the odometer.

And to add there are a few Dodge,Jeep dealers that are starting to rebate Trackhawks up to 15,000 off since they have been there for almost a year UNTOUCHED, but I agree $90+ thousand for a Jeep is way to much and in a completely different segment hence why a lot of dealers have Trackhawks on the lots. I mean you can get a Caddy Escalade, MB, or BMW SUV fully loaded for that kind of money.

That's the key IMO. There's a reason why they're sitting on dealer lots untouched for up to a year. They're overpriced and can't match what the competition offers. I wouldn't even call it fair competition because Caddy, MB, Porsche, and BMW offer so much more in terms of build quality, features, luxury, etc. Trackhawk has one thing in its favor....its motor, performance wise in a straight line. Not enough to interest me to lay down upwards of $100K for one.

This is the first poor review ive read. Everything else is rave reviews and people are getting 10-13k off on average on new ones so it’s even less money in a comparable market.

I will say I don’t think I’d buy the Jeep expecting it to be the same quality as Porsche or Benz though.

How is a 700hp SUV slow? Even with it being a rolling pile of FIAT garbage it has to be pants-shittingly quick.

I drove my mothers 2004 Cayenne S when she still had it and it only had 340hp and it was shockingly quick. I cant imagine something with 350+hp more at the crank. She now has a Macan with the V6 and it feels extremely fast for a low option car(non turbo). The build quality of a Porsche is amazing and the service you get from the dealer is always top notch even for a lower tiered car.

My brother in law has a Laredo GC and its a pile of garbage. Recalls out the wazoo and more problems than its worth. Been in the shop more than he has driven it. Shitty brakes(fire risk per 3 recalls), shitty engine(customer satisfaction program to replace if explodes), shitty transmission(repaired twice under warranty) and extremely shitty interior(fire risk headliner and airbags). Wouldnt buy one after seeing the horrendous QC they do before you buy one. My Fiesta has a better quality interior than his near 40k dollar Jeep. I would hope the Trackhawk has a much better QC program.

What about a used Bentley Bentayga? W12 and turbos equals fun!

A guy that comes to our Thursday cruise night has a TrackHawk & raves about it. I would treat most people's performance comments with a grain of salt, but this guy owns some pretty neat rides..
Besides this SS, he's brought a 10 sec. Lightning to our show.

I mean comparing a GT500 with a whipple will make a 707 crank hp truck feel slow.

Where the truck shines is from digs. And I doubt you launched the truck on a test run. Sport mode and track mode make a difference, too. The regular drive mode can lug at times, probably to make the pig fuel efficient as possible lol.
Highway pulls the truck pulls well for a 5,400~lb truck but doesn't have the same feel as down low.
I know the dealerships around here don't really allow people to go buck wild cause 1. To weed out the joyriders 2. Break in procedure on the truck is till 500 miles. You can't use launch control till then. Big dealership where we get cars from their rep is quite serious about following it.
Part of what makes the truck fun is that when you use launch control, it gives you 6lb of boost off the line, shared tech with the demon.

As for the loudness in terms of vibration, not sure about that. Only loudness I've experienced is the exhaust, while the powertrain was smooth.
There is no black key for the THs. You get two red keys.
Odds are that truck had been sitting for a while due to the dead battery and flat spot tires. I would bet the gas inside of it wasn't close to fresh.

Go with what you want, obviously when you are talking about a truck that starts at 85k(Trackhawk) and a Cayenne Turbo S (161k) you don't want to compromise.

if i was going to buy a premium luxury suv for towing duty in this price realm it would definitely be a navigator black label, 450hp, 10spd and a world class interior. It also has a much higher tow rating and in general built way tougher than any of those euro-trash unibody cross-over "suvs."

No surprise, there. It's an FCA vehicle, therefore, it's trash like everything else they build.

In the end, buy what you like, and like what you buy (hopefully). LOL.

Came away utterly underwhelmed. We're looking for a nice, fun, capable and "luxurious" tow vehicle. Based on Overall, IMO, it's not worth the $95K that this particular one costs. If it were, say, $65K, I could probably overlook its shortcomings. At near $100K, it's getting too close to some much better vehicles where its shortcomings can't be overlooked. Truthfully, though, its only real shortcoming was the NVH. The acceleration honestly didn't feel any faster than the GLE63 S and Cayenne GTS. And the GTS is down over 200HP!

Aren't there incentives on the Trackhawk? Why do you keep looking at cars at dealerships that charge an ADM?

Wait, OP posted the tires were flat spotted and then goes on to remark about how odd and noisy the powertrain was. You just can’t make this shit up! On what planet do we find these people?
