The Democratic Party had one of the worst political slogans for a candidate. It read, "Vote for Al Smith and Make Your Wet Dreams Come True." Al Smith was against prohibition.

When Andrew Jackson's political opponents called him a "jackass," he embraced the insult and put a donkey on his campaign posters. The Democratic Party has used it as their symbol ever since.

Party of the jackasses. How fitting.

1857 – The Democrat-controlled Supreme Court approved the dreaded Dred Scott Decision, which declared that black Americans were “not persons but property” and therefore had no rights.

Today, this is a forgotten or ignored fact.

The current US flag features 50 stars and was designed by Robert G. Heft. Heft initially created the American flag in 1958 as the school project during his junior year in high school. Heft scored a B- in his project but was promised by Stanley Pratt, his teacher, that his grade would be reconsidered if the United States Congress was to accept the design for the flag. Heft's design was not only chosen but also adopted by the 1959 presidential proclamation.

But did Robert's teacher fix his grade?

A while back I was told a stat claiming half of fatal stabbings were committed with a screw driver. Others were pondering this and I said it makes perfect sense. Guy and his gal get into it, he has to take a break and heads to the garage, she won't let it go and follows...well you see where it goes.

Indoor air usually contains about twice as much dust as the air outside which is about a million microscopic particles per cubic inch of air. About 75 dust mites can live happily on one gram of carpet dust.

White sand beaches in Hawaii and the Maldives are primarily made from parrot fish poop.

Thanks for that. You couldn't have posted a couple of days ago?

Wife informed me on Thursday that she booked us to Kona for all of January. Yuck! Why does she keep forcing me to go to these shitholes? Why can't I just go to Phoenix or anywhere in Florida like every other canadian?

I better fix my attitude and pretend to enjoy it.

My ESP picked up on your trip excitement and determined this was an important and useful fact you need to know. I’d have her cancel and re-book for the shores of the great lakes where the beaches dont have this shitty problem.

Great Lakes sand is mostly white because over 90 percent of the Great Lakes sand is silica, a pure form of quartz that is very hard. Feldspar, a common mineral in the area, dissolves into clay that washes out of the sand settling out in the lake. It can be seen in the sand as pink or gray flecks. In a handful of sand you might find garnet, magnetite, topaz, even sapphire. Occasionally sand especially in the U.P., has flecks of copper, gold and silver in it. All to often the flakes of "gold" are actually mica or pyrite -- fools gold!

Company, the name "WD-40" originated in 1953when the product was first developed. The company, originally known as the"Rocket Chemical Company", was trying to design a protectant for metalparts on rockets to prevent rust and corrosion by displacing water... hence the"WD" for water displacement. The "40", on the other hand, indicates that the formula (still inuse today, by the by) was the 40th attempt to get it right!
