Anyone else frustrated with Ford over the next GT500?

Yep, list me among the doubters. A pencil and paper is what I see, no order banks. Once we see the car, then I can see order banks opening.

Hmmm...I just got off the phone with the dealer I'm committed to and they told me there will be a limited run of 2018's. I have to go in on Monday to give them the options and specs for my order. I'm not sure if they're crazy or what but I don't think they'd have me come in for nothing....keep you fine gentlemen posted.

I'm quite certain that they know less than anyone that has read this thread (for example). Hopefully the coffee is warm anyway.

Your dealer is lying.

They are having you come in for nothing.

for what this is worth, i have heard of a few dealerships having what they are calling 'interest lists'- these are not order banks, no deposits are being requested (or taken), etc. it is merely getting on a list if you are INTERESTED. to me, that means absolutely nothing. so you get on a list and then what? when the real order bank opens up do people on the 'interested' lists get first dibs or will these lists be ignored? me thinks it is just to get people into the dealerships.

I am not sure exactly why yet, but my brain woke up with this car in mind and hasn’t quit thinking about it. I foresee some nods to this “375hp” bar fighter coming in the gt500. Am ethos gambit bringing up some of the hype and wonder that the 428cjr cars had from mach1’s to bosses and gt500’s in 1969/70.

I read earlier that the 1969 gt500 had a drag package option and a superheavyduty suspension option. The invoice was $4700-5025 base price coupe/convertible in 1969, and options added up pretty quickly. Lots of them. The Shelby deal was terminated as the cars became heavy and more like a luxary coupe fighter than a Porsche competitor ala 1965 Gt350. A handful of left over 69 gt500’s were sold as 1970 gt500’s with an fbi authorized documentation.

Very unique time at Ford. Performance was dying out, regulations were pouring in.

Day ja vu? Hell they even just capped off a performance era with a halo Ford GT. I’m thinking the human drivable turnkey manufactured performance car days are headed for a recession.

to make sure he is still serious?

If someone decides to play that card after I’ve put 5 grand down, I’d be pissed. He shows he’s serious when he puts 5 grand down. Adults don’t usually need to be reminded that they have put money somewhere.

that is what was said by Marc Schaller as well. Year 2019. that hasn't changed.
may be that they backed it up from MY 2019 to 2020MY but it would still be a calendar year 2019 car as he shares in the video which came after Patterson's comments.
would be very sad to see them actually start coming in calendar year 2020.

For a 2020MY car it would mean we wouldn't see a single GT500 until june of 2019. That is a long way out, as the first 6 months will be extremely hard to get one.
Its a safe bet that year 2020-2021 is when a john doe could find one.

It would make more sense to be 2020, that's when the redesign drops. Doesnt make sense to drop a GT500 for the last year of the S550 and then have an "all new" one 1 year later.

There's a lot of business decisions to be made, everyone in this thread is all doom and gloom thinking the car is a failure, or isnt making power, or isnt performing when at the end of the day it's a very simple answer - it has to make money. There is a time and place for everything, and clearly here and now is not it.

Says right in the teaser clip. 48 seconds in..."Arriving 2019" To me that means this car should debut officially in production form at NAIAS next January.

Hopefully there's no change to that. Everything I've read points to the 350's last year being 2018 as well.
