Out cruising in the Cobra on Ignite 114 mode (767/699). Hear some bad knock/exhaust leak during a small pull. Start limping Cobra home thinking the worst. Of COURSE, this is when an '09 GSXR 1000 pulls up and eggs me on.

My best friend says without missing a beat, "If you're going to blow this thing up, at least do it when you're doing something cool." So terrible influence he is , I give it to the guy.

Did an 60 to "some" mph pull and put about 2 cars on him. He was showboating at the start of the pull by trying to wheelie past me. It cost him the race. He has a power commander, gears, exhaust, and a custom dyno tune I believe he said

Go home, checked the plugs. Everything looked semi ok. Regapped and went back out. Cobra is driving pretty good, but exhaust note still a touch different

Take my buddy home in the RS and come across a new Civic Type R, the first one I've yet to see. Asked him if he wanted to do some pulls. I properly gaptized (as would be expected stock vs modded) from 1.5 to 3 cars on short pulls.

Great night. Went about a year since some good old fooling around, and ended up getting 2 great competitors back to back

Good kills. Was hoping to see the 1000 on video. Sounds kinda out there. Something was wrong with the car (which only made 767 to begin with) but still put two cars on a modded 1000?

Either way, good kills.

The 1000 rider must not have been very good.
Don't forget he popped a wheelie and was showboating around and gave me a good head start.

Had he done it straight up, I would have lost

Only video of the 1000 I have is after the race, he did another wheelie

I've ridden a bunch of liter bikes... he should have been able to pull you even in a wheelie.

Well that definitely didn't happen.

I think he said he started in 2nd and shifted at 105 to 3rd? I assume 65 or 70 roll could still be in 1st?

I immediately put about 2 or so cars on him from the hit. He had motioned me to go. He quickly reeled in the 2 cars and was at my door. He then shifted and dropped back a bit.

Ended mid 4th for the Cobra

Nice kills!

So it's safe to say a stock for stock race between the RS and Type R would be dead nuts?

Maybe it was a gsxr 750? LOL

either way nice kills, wish you had the liter bike kill on cam.
He definitely said 1000. And had a sticker

But yeah it could have been for sure I suppose

He did pull on me after he showed off. Just gave me too much a head start.

It all happened too quick and didn't get on film

The RS has 40HP more than the Type-R, so I'd place my money on the RS every time. I watched a video a few days ago of a drag race between the Type-R, RS, and A45 AMG. The Type-R had just as well had not shown up for the race.

The type R is under rated. They dyno pretty similar what the RS does.

Even though it looks like a joke, as far as turbo 4 bangers go, it hangs with the other hot hatches (from a roll at least).

Understood, but we're talking from a roll here. I know times have changed as far as the auto vs manual go with autos being faster now. Have they changed as far as awd vs fwd/rwd racing from a roll? I always thought AWD lost more power through the drivetrain, meaning they could make close to the same power at the wheels.

My thoughts exactly.

I've seen some dynojets of the Type R showing 290-305 SAE corrected.

My RS SAE corrected made only 268/315. It was a very cold day and I think the car was pegging the torque tables and pulled a lot of top end.

A friend of mine is a tuner down the street and he came into today and mentioned the new Type R they just dyno'd. Needless to say, the advertised 306hp number is not at the crank!

STD corrected I was 288/330 something.

I gained 50whp and 70wtq across the entire band from my tune
