I mean, you can knock financial idiocy by buying new vehicles, but what if that's what the person enjoys? Are they hurting anyone? I'm just saying, I enjoy two things..electronics & vehicles. I'm not talking, the newest iPhone trend..but I enjoy cool, techy things & also cool vehicles. Where do you draw the line at financial idiocy..you don't need sucha nice house, sucha big tv, sucha expensive car, a smartphone. I mean we all live more luxuriously & more based off of our wants than needs. Some enjoy putting all their money into retirement, some into vacations, some into cars..what if you die tomorrow? Will that retirement money be a wise thing then? Assuming you'll live to 70 is arrogant, yet smart. A nice compromise is probably the best thing to do, splurge a lil in the moment...save a lil for the future. You can't chastise people about how they spend their money, as long as they earned it. That's why credit scores exist, to rate people based on risk..Our society is a debt heavy society, we buy what we cant't afford now..but we can afford monthly payments. I doubt there's many on here who bought their house cash nowadays..maybe you bought it 10-20 yrs ago at a low price & now it's paid off...but I doubt you paid straight cash. If only buying things you could only pay for today was a rule, most of us would be pimping a nice trailer at best.

I actually broke even on my SRT Jeep after having it for a year & putting 15,000 miles on it..They gave me $8,000 over KBB value for my SRT Jeep, to get in an already nicely discounted Hellcat. The only money I lost was the gas & maintenance costs, the taxes & everything are included in my breaking even price. So, I drove a badass SUV for basically free. So, if you know how to play the game, you can actually have nice crap for relatively cheap. I got really lucky though & only went in to look at the Hellcat..when they said they'd give me a trade in offer, I only wanted to hear it for shits & giggles. The offer they came back with was already hard to turn down, but I sweetened the deal more & boom...

My deal ain't as good as this leasing deal though. There's a few that actually are on the hellcat forum that posted about leasing a hellcat for like $500 a month with little to no down. Kinda depressing now, lol.

Having a new car every 3 years will also keep you poor unless you make big money.

Its amazing to see people arguing that buying something during maximum depreciation time and continually repeating that cycle is a good thing.

I think I enjoy being in my mid 30s with a paid for house, no cars newer than 10 yrs old and a pile of cash in the bank. If you can keep up your lifestyle and stay out of debt more power to you. I envy you.
Can go a ton of way’s. If you die tomorrow, all that money saved up will be for nothing, for you that is. The person who gets your money will buy everything you never did and enjoy it.

BUT, you can also live to see 60 and enjoy the sunset while another person your age still needs to work the cash register to pay his house/bills/etc.

Anyone can be in debt whether you’re rich or poor. Its about how you manage your money. I’ve seen people spend thousands on clothes and watches but having a cheap car, others being the opposite.

Off topic but eh, there are pro’s and con’s to lease. It just depends on a person. My wife leased her Explorer and will probably lease her next car after it. Her payment is less than 1/4 of what she takes home by herself. I dont mind driving the latest and greatest lol

All the power to anyone who does it. I know people who do it and its just to have that instant satisfaction of having something new. However the rest of their daily lives struggle and they just make excuses like "well I don't want to fix it when warranty runs out" I mean... if you think buying a new vehicle when warranty runs out due to a potential failure is cheaper than maybe having to fix something, then go ahead lol.

I actually bought my dirtbike brand new so I'm a total hypocrite but I will run it until it can no longer be rebuilt.

Then

Then you have the people that believe in leaving something for the next generation or those of us that understand the end of your life can be extremely expensive. If you end up spending the last year of your life in and out of the hospital it can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars easy.

As you say different strokes for different folks.

WOW, talk about someone trying to tell others how to spend their money. You like how you live but have some respect and don't look down on others for how they live. That's the problem with the new(er) generation of people, you think your know everything and you're way is the ONLY way.

Going to leave it at that as I don't want to be a hypocrite and place judgement on your lifestyle.

An PS. I'll be fine. Got 5 cars (4 now paid off), Nice house (got a mortgage), 2 beautiful kids (college funds), retirement plan, insurance plans to cover the area's you are concerned about later in life, etc... Let's just say, you can still prepare for life and still enjoy your life if you really want to. No regrets on my death bed...

How much could one rent a Hell Cat for? I bet that you make some serious
coin doing 2hr/half day/Weekend rentals. If you don't want to make 60 or 72 payments then leasing seems like a good option. I would imagine how many miles you drive yearly is
a major factor on deciding how you will own a vehicle.

I imagine insurance companies won't take kindly to that. What happens when someone inevitably crashes and hurts themselves, or someone else, after you rented out a performance car? The average person likely doesn't have any insurance policies to cover this scenario.

That's what insurance is for. I know of
a local guy that specializes in corvette
rentals. I think that fantasy car rentals would do quite well.

I'm saying I don't think your typical insurance policy will cover it if you are making a profit off of it. It would be something more like what hertz employs.

I'm just assuming there is a difference.

Here's a screenshot of a new Hellcat lease a member on the hellcat forum got. Apparently, it's cheaper than his new mustang gt he got out of.

$685 down. $516 a month.
