Hey guys...super excited to see what times this beauty puts down. With it already being July of 2015 and there are clearly production spec cars out there, when is FORD going to let the cat out of the bag. I'm anxiously awaiting numbers because I have a Challenger Hellcat on order and may go with the Shelby instead. Before you flame me, realize I completely understand they are two different cars. One is a track beast and the other is a classic muscle car. Since I won't be tracking my car and am buying something as a toy, I think both will be fun as hell. But I'd like to know the basics on the Shelby like 0-60, 1/4 mile, top speed, acceleration in gear, etc. I could care less how fast it goes around a track. So when are they finally going to let media have it? I feel like Dodge let the press have the Hellcat right away. We've been seeing so many videos of the GT350 revving, etc. Now is the time to prove it's worth the hype.

If that's the case then you may be disappointed.. This is a track car, not a drag car but it seems you already know that. if all you want is 0-60 or 1/4 mile, go with the gt500, period. I'm sure it will be possible to make the gt350 very fast in a 1/4 but at what cost? on top of msrp and mark up? GT500 will be cheaper and much much faster.. and I never heard any hype about its acceleration abilities. I would go with the gt500 over the hellcat any day. better engine, solid axle, and so on.. leave the gt350 to those who actually want it for what it is, maybe if more people will end up doing that, the mark ups will stay down

Im predicting 1320 times to be faster than 11/12 GT500 and slower than the 13/14. With that said I would not be surprised if every other performance category(besides straight line speed) goes to the GT350. The GT350 will be just a better car, much like they say when they compare the GT3 to the TT from Porsche.

I just read this again. Since you know so much about dodge and their R and D timeline and where on that timeline they chose to release their information you could share that with the rest of us. Then we can decide if it does or does not match up with the R and D timeline of the GT350.

Date of the original HC idea?
Date of the original computer model?
Original clay/windtunnel or drag cohefficient testings.
First Mule/s
Main engineering dates: all power trains, suspensions and so forth
Dates they hit their marks for performance goals
Dates in which federal regulations were past: crash testing, mpg, etc
Dates passed for their own reliability and durability testing
Dates for marketing
Dates for media testing
Date that media could share their stories
Dates they actually hit showroom floors

It would be cool to see how all of this and more compares with the Ford Timelines.

Awesome. How about the RS?

Don't know but it has to be very late in the year, or early next. I would expect print media reviews for GT350/R to be on stands in September as October issues. Online stuff should be September.

They really like dragging things out in the S550 era.

Ford Performance (still want to type SVT) is busy these days. They have GT350 & GT350R, Focus RS, Ford GT, Raptor all going full-bore at once for release in the next 12-15 months. That's a crazy set of all-new or very close to all-new products in a short period of time.

Thanks DBK. By the way, will the Focus RS have cooled seats? I remember hearing about it on Autoline, but googling for it doesn't show any results

Aren't they a combination of different teams though? It's not like it's the SVT team that did the GT500 spread across the RS, GT350 and Raptor.

A lot of it is like that. A number of people from what was SVT previously are now working on the aforementioned performance projects concurrently, albeit with expanded staff and resources.

I hope a Fusion GT/ST/SVT/ is in the works...as a midsize 4 door AWD could take sales away from competition. Give it adout 450 hp with 3.5 eco...or just throw in an 5.0....either works for me. Having said all that and with current administration- when that jerk leaves office the CAFE regs could be loosened a bit....giving manufacturersa little more freedom

It ran a 7.32 at the Ring. Hellcat will be a fun stoplight to stoplight car or highway cruiser but the Shelby GT350 is a racecar you can drive on the street. It's going to be compete with some of the world's best production track cars.
