You're confusing "fastest" with "best". The Shelby is a monster, but the S550 is by far the better all around car. The only thing it lacks is power, for now. It has the better chassis, suspension, engine, interior, etc. Really, the only thing that I think I'd swap from the Shelby to the GT is the TR6060.

I sure am not.

13-14 Shelby is the best Mustang produced to date. We dont buy mustangs for a "pretty" interior or for ride quality, we leave that to the soccer moms. Want nice interior, go buy German. Want ride quality, go buy a cadillac.

Fact is that the shelby destroys the s550 in every performance category, where it counts.

Congrats on your switch man!
As long as you like it who care what anyone esle thinks. It's your money so enjoy and do whatever you want...

However, if i were you i would probably wait for the S550 Shleby/SVT variant.

Considering the Boss 302 beat out the Shelby on road courses and the S550 supposedly matches or bests the Boss, I'd say that statement is incorrect.

I am almost certain that the boss did not beat the 13-14 shelby stock for stock on a road course.

Maybe you don't but everyone has different tastes and expectations. I do find it humorous a guy driving a 1LE is defending the 13/14 GT500.

Your point is mute as you didnt go from the best mustang ever produced (13-14 gt500) to an s550. Dont you dare compare your past 5.0s or even boss to the shelby man. Ill punch you in your throat (jk).

lol...sorry I traded my 14 Shelby with 711RWHP for the S550.

I'm one of the few guys who could actually compare all of them as I have owned a 2012 5.0, 2012 Boss, 2013 5.0 and 2014 Shelby.

I can say without any bias or doubt, this is EASILY the best mustang I have owned. Mine is a 2014 ruby red with PP. It is a GREAT drivers car. I will have to do a full review soon but everything OP says is correct.

Agreed 100%... The new s550 is a sweet ride but I'll take a 13/14 Shelby 8 days a week. I have only put 9k miles on my 5.0 in almost 2 years so being super comfy isn't that important. When I drive it I drive it like a jackass. If I want comfort I'll go cts-v.
Of course this is assuming I could afford a $60k Shelby which I can not.

I totally agree with "different tastes and expectation", it is totally ok to like the s550 better, nothing wrong with that.

What I find humorous is that someone would state that the "S550 beats the 13-14 shelby like a rented mule", when the shelby is a better performer.

I do have to ask why you find it humorous that I drive a mullet?

Don't have a problem with the 1LE. Just commenting since I would expected a GT500 owner, not you, dropping in to comment often.

Well, i guess i have to recant my previous statement. I will be looking forward to your review on the cars for sure.

I will continue to hang off of the shelby's nuts as the performance numbers are all that matter to me, "interior, better chassis, etc." is irrelevant to me. Not to mention how special of a car it is vs a generic mass produced one.

I'm sorry, you're basically saying the only real mustang is one with a crappy interior and poor ride? The irritating thing is that argument has popped up several times against the S550, and its a pretty weak argument if you ask me... I bought a mustang because i wanted a mustang, but i also dont feel expecting a decent ride and quality interior.. you know, where you spend all of your time, is not too much to ask as well.

You may as well tell everyone who bothered getting a premium they would have been better off buying a German car since thats apparently not what the mustang is for... At any rate, rant over.

I agree. You know it is possible to have both a great performing car with a great interior. I love my terminator but the interior sucks. Now that we have the s550 that is built on a great new platform with a nice interior all of the sudden it's not a mustang. It's great that the mustang has moved away from the rattle box that the fox used to be. This sibling rivalry with the mustang crowd is hilarious.

The theory that a muscle car has to be built like crap is a thing of the past. Like everything else in life, people want it all. Sure you have those meatheads that want to brag to their buddies about straight line performance and the 662 hp under the hood.

So you think the Shelby is an all around better performing car??? How do you come up with that. Remember straight line acceleration is only aspect of performance.

You guys are being way too logical for an SVTP thread...

Comfortable sports cars with nice interiors and proper suspension are only for girly men! Only 1000 HP wood-wheeled covered wagons are manly and acceptable!

Lol this is a crazy thread.

The 15's are beautiful stangs for sure. I have finally seen one up close and personal, and seen it run out in Mexico. It sounded as if it had a exhaust installed, and it was not slow at all. iT actually beat a 13~14 with similar mods..(roll race).

On the way home it rolled up on me, and I thought it was really nice. He nearly made the mistake of "trying me" but lol he back-ed off, look at my rear, saw the S H E L B Y and noticed the size of my tires and exhaust and thought better of it. He rolled up and point for me to roll out, and since it was a nice chunk of straight I did.

I will say the 15' are not a bad choice to get into, even if you owned a Shelby. The aftermarket will handle and power issues, and with KB, Hellion, Vortech, ATI, VMP, Roushe, and some others already offering systems, I think it will not be long till someone roll up on you and shock the heck out of another car.

Still waiting to go test drive, but I am sure the 15 will be one of our best ALL AROUND performer yet.

Shelby is a great car, no doubt about that, but my 14 did have some major flaws...one of them was how it rode on chicago roads...anytime I would get an uneven surface out back I would feel the rear end go left and right as if it was attached with rubber bands...I did the upper and lower control arms but it didn't help as much as I would have expected.

The other problem was how squirrly the car was. Stock and with pulley kit the car was all over the road on WOT. I'm not the only guy who said this...the MPSS helped alot but it was still the only car I never felt comfortable turning all the nannies off on. I never thought I would say this but the car simply had too much power and not enough chassis to support it.

Another issue was reliability. Supposedly the car had a bullet proof transmission, but mine grenaded one day on a hard 1-2 shift and left me stranded. It was covered under warranty but for all the jokes about the MT82, I thought it was funny I blew the shelbys tranny up and never the boss or the 5.0's...lol. I drove those cars harder than the shelby too.

My Shelby drank about 2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. I had an oil catch but it never really got full....not sure where the hell all that oil went.

My driveshaft had a few bruises in it from hitting the undercarriage under WOT sometimes...sooner or later I would assume it would fail...I have seen a few other posts about others breaking. The car also needed an alignment at 13000 miles and new tires...not the cars fault but still expensive to deal with.

We shall see how the S550 holds up, but so far I am in love with this car and might keep it more than 7-8 months like my other stangs...lol

I guess I should have known my post would start something like this, but it wasn't my intention.

To each his own, but if you haven't driven a new GT PP you should. There is a qualitative difference that is simply astounding. The S197 GT500 is faster, but IMHO the S550 GT PP is a better car in every other way. I don't consider the switch to be a downgrade at all.

I respect your decision Colleton and don't disagree with your reasons. I think what gets lost in all of this bantering, is the reason why we have the particular car we have. WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN RHYMES AND REASONS!

I have my car because I wanted a Shelby. I don't care if it's just the '12 with 112 less HP than a 13/14. I don't care if it doesn't have the fancy interior the '15 has. I don't care it rides a little rough. I bought it because I've been a Mustang nut all my life and the day I saw Gone in 60 Seconds, I knew I was going to own a car "like" that one day. I have an icon's name on my trunk lid and I'm proud to say I'm a Shelby owner. It doesn't have to be perfect. As long as it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, that's all that matters. I'm not going to nitpick it for what it's not.

That said, I stopped and saw a '15 in person yesterday. SHARP car and love everything about it. Would love to have one. However, I'm not trading my Shelby in to get one.
