Start mild rant...

Took my '12 GT500 in for an oil change today. The guy (approx 25-30) behind the desk in the service department was talking to me about my car. He has an '11 CS and we exchanged the things we love about our cars. So, I told him that since my car takes 6.5 Quarts of oil, I'd like to have the left over, half bottle. He says, "No, they take 8 Quarts." I told him I was pretty sure it didn't.

Then, my salesman came out and chatted a bit. I asked if they were getting an '13's in and the same guy says, "Try to get a Gotta Have it Green in here!" I said that was a Boss only color (turns out I'm wrong on that, available on the V6 and GT) and he says "No, School Bus Yellow is the only color available just on the Boss." He was right about that, but still dead wrong about GHG on the Shelby.

When they were done with the car, he came to me with the paperwork and says "You were right, it was only 6.5 Quarts. I put the other half in the trunk. I guess I was thinking about the '13 that has 8 Quarts."

"Of course I was right, I read the manual and spend way too much time at sites like SVTP to be wrong." - That's what I wanted to say. ;)

He was a good guy and fun to talk with, but just irritated me that he tried correcting me on info about a car that I have way more knowledge about.

End Rant

Thank you for posting that OP. I was beginning to think my whole day was wasted.

The next person who post that "we got a badass" meme will get their face eaten.

I guess I wasted it a bit more. I just figured I couldn't be the only one getting tired of more and more Ford employees not knowing what they're talking about it.

I am a FORD guy working for a Dodge dealership. I know squat about Dodge other then the salesman there says a SRT will do a 11 second 1/4 mile. Being a service writer I just smile and roll my eys and think god I wish I worked for a Ford dealership.
Most of the guys that work where I do know a ton about the cars and they can get it wrong at times. The guy was just trying to be be chatty imagine this for that oil change he made less then 2.50 for his time at least he was not a dick. I get paid 5% of what I sell, so at times we get chatty in case you need other services you dont just tell us to screw off. A mans got to eat...

You did but it's ok I had nowhere else to go. And ya it is annoying when they don't know crap, but it is worse when they try to tell you crap about how their magical windshield washer flush will give me 20 hp and 5 more mpg's.

Seems like he knew the answers to as many questions if not more than you today.

Give the guy a break, sounds like a good service writer and pretty knowledgeable about Mustangs. He may have been thinking about the 5.0 which does take 8 quarts. I am a mechanic at a Ford dealer and trust me it is hard to find a good service writer that actually has good product knowledge.

I can understand that. At least he wasn't a jerk.

Those folks at your local dealer are not Ford employees.

If they were Ford would have a little more say in the quality of care that Ford customers receive after the car is built.

I have had problems from this dealer in the service department. I emailed them after they sent me a survey, they apologized and it's been pretty good ever since.

Seems like he knew the answers to as many questions if not more than you today.

8 quarts of oil and a GHG Shelby vs me thinking GHG was Boss only. 2-1. I squeaked out the victory numbers wise, but if we're on a Motor Trend grading scale, then the service guy wins.

I didn't mean for this to be pointless. It was merely for me to rant about how an employee does not know their product. Ask me about my product I deal with everyday and see how I do.

The GT drinks 8 quarts of oil? Holy crap. Like I said before, he was enthusiastic and nice, just didn't enjoy him trying to correct me when he was incorrect. If I was wrong, then great. I learned something.

Oh, I completely left out the fact that he told me that it took 5W-20 to begin with. I had to lift my hood in the service bay to prove that he was wrong. But, y'all do not care, so I'm wasting my time.

Wait, so you're worried about 1/2 quart of oil in your 50K car? Are you going to have the dealer use it in your next oil change???
