Good luck fellas! I just made Staff out of cycle last month, and I sew on in June. It was my first time testing so I didn't know what to expect, but it boggles my mind now that I have taken that test when a lot of people can't make Staff. I studied probably 6 hours total, made it by 18 points. I only had 17 points combined TIS/TIG, full EPR points and no decs. I need to really get in the books for whan I test for Tech, I won't have TIS/TIG to help me out.

Also, I enjoy the history in the PDG. I think there is a ton of very useful information in that book, but I think much of it is irrelevant for Staffs and Techs.

Congrats friend. I really do hope you have better sups than I did when I made it. When I made it I was still treated as a SrA due to having an abundance of staffs. When I PCS'd to my next base it was the same way. To many staffs and not enough Amn. So I got treated like an Amn cuz I didn't know the airframe well enough. Now I'm playing catch up on rank duties. i get the rank respect but at the same time I can't get the position respect due to not knowing enough of the airframe. Its a win/lose situation. It took me 7.5yrs and 3 bases to finally get a supervisor who actually cares about me, my future, and what I do in between.

That blows. I've had good supervisors and bad ones. The good ones (TSgts) knew their shit from the PDG. The bad one (SSgt) was about to roll over and let my leadership take a stripe from me (Not saying I was fault free). He didin't know shit from the PDG. Fortunately two MSgts came in and used their knowledge to prevent that shit. I really think there is a lot of good info in there.

But for me This is a test free year. But Headed to Korea soon and test next year for TSgt fml:bash:

Anyone else preparing to test this cycle? I got very lucky with a test date of March 19th so I'm trying to make the best of it.

I'm also preparing to take the GRE so my current study cycle is PDG Gold M,W,F for 3 hours and then studying for GRE T,Th 3 hours. Weekends off.

This'll be my first shot at Tech and I have only 1 medal (3 pts) towards this test so the odds are against me.

Anyways, post up your testing frustrations and thoughts!

I'm testing for MSgt again this year, it will be my second time. All I know is I better make it this year, I've been filling a MSgt slot for the last 2.5 years and it would be nice to have the pay that goes along with all the crap I have to deal with.

I missed it by 10 points last year, it was my first time testing and I only had 10 years 4 months TIS so I didn't think I had a chance at all. I kicked myself in the butt after I got the scores back, if I would have opened the book at all I probably would have made it. I've studied off and on this year but I'm not sure how I'm going to do, I'm beginning to think I might have ADD or something since I can't concentrate at all when I open that damn book!

What kind of studying are you guys doing for the PDG. I'm using the PDG Gold and just doing the multiple answer test. Depending on the time I have I'll do between 100-200 questions. Right now I'm at the 50% mark of correct answers. Just impossible to try and memorize thousands of questions.

I had the PDG audio and just played it while driving to and from work. Almost an hour drive each way. Barely even touched the test questions. Got a 94 on the test. Only danger to it is, falling asleep while driving...

I'm using Gold as well. Rather than trying to memorize everything in there, I'm going more for familiarization and repetition.

I figure the more I do it, the more something is going to stick out or jar a memory on the test.

Unfortunately for me, I also have a pretty tough AFSC...so I really need to hit my CDCs hard as well. :bash:

So you recommend it? I'm testing pfe only this year so I'm really trying to make it without opening the pdg haha

If your an auditory type learner, it might help you. If you are not, then your not going to do very well.

If I hear something I typically remember it. Reading things tho, unless its car related or something that interests me.. I'll forget in a day. haha

Even cdc's I had to sit there and remember answers for the multiple choice ones. Didn't even read half the questions.

I got a March 20 test date, and even though im at Kunsan with no family/husband duties, i still cant seem to get focused.

Gonna try to start listening to the MP3's while following along with the pdf. I think its bull sh**t we didnt get hard copy PDG this year.

Its my 3rd time, missed it by 17 last year, so if they dont mess with the cut off to much, i may have a decent chance.

We got hard copy PDG. But it is flimsy as hell...

they dont have anything for the dogs to wear.

Poor dogs=(

I'm a hands on learner. But anywhere between 1-2 hours of it a day and some of it stuck. It was almost subliminal.
