I have a very serious question, of which I have not been able to answer or ever find out any info...

The 1994 Cobra production run - does anyone have or know of the whereabouts of SVT build #'s 0001-0012? These SVT's had to have a very early build month and date of possibly around January 1994. I have searched online for quite some time using multiple forum threads, eBay, craigslist and numerous for sale ads, and I've yet to locate or find those vehicles.

Does anyone also know which 1994 Cobras were used in any Ford promotional material and if those cars survived or were they destroyed (not sold to the public)?

You all may be wondering why I'm asking.

I'm the 2nd owner of my Cobra and it was bone stock when purchased years ago. I always knew the actual SVT build number had to be low, based on my VCL decal's month/year build date AND the fact that my actual VIN # is extremely low when comparing to any/all other 1994 Cobras I've been able to find online, etc.

I've also owned a prior 1996 Cobra, prior to my 94. I did the whole "SVT Certificate thing" when I owned that Cobra, so when I bought my 94 years ago, I never really had any interest in obtaining it's SVT Certificate and already knew all about the car and it's "uniqueness".

Fast forward to last year... Out of curiosity, I finally decided to call the 1-800 number for Ford to see what my 94 Cobra's actual SVT Build number was.... I gave the Ford Rep my VIN and upon him looking up the info, he came back and said "Your Cobra is SVT Build # 0013". I thought I was not hearing correctly and asked him to repeat, in which he said the same thing, "13" as in, 0013. Needless to say, I was not only surprised, but at the same time, being around Mustangs and owning MANY over the years, I already thought it's build # was low based on my VIN & VCL decal, but I NEVER thought it was within the first 15 built, or even first 100.

Now, ever since finding out my build #, as stated above, I've been unable to locate #'s 0001-0012, therefore as far as I know, my Cobra is the lowest production 94 Cobra in existence. This is why I'm on the search for the others.

If anyone has any info, or could even supply me with any other info they may know about my Cobra, that would be awesome.

My Cobra's VCL build date is: January 1994
Actual Assembly line build from BUC tag: January 24, 1994
Last (6) of my VIN: 144409
Confirmed SVT Production #: 0013
Rio Red over Black

(note: I'm not new to Mustang forums, or Mustang ownership even though I'm a new user here....) :)

lol I would never want one of those types of cars. I could never keep it stock and be careful with it. I want to drive my car hard!

Goodluck with finding it all out though, must be pretty cool.

In my experience I have never seen a premium for earlier built Cobras ie '93's or 2K R's. Maybe at a show the first or second built might be advantageous. However I know what you mean in terms of what is left on the road, I have often wondered how many BAB's are on the road today.Good luck in your search and if I run across anything I will let you know.

Build Number

I have to add this, even though it's on a '95 Cobra ... when I had my '95 a few years ago, I came across a Rio Red '95 on some car lot's Web Site near Phoenix ... the Build Number was "15." That's what the owner said, when I called him, asking for information.

I've always thought it would be great to own a LOW number like that. Mine was 1570 - don't have a clue as to where it is now.

Good luck in your search.

wow i'd hold onto this car, thats pretty cool. if the other ones were demo/test cars which they very well couldve been, you just might have the lowest build number for one that survived. this is awesome, subscribing..

Just bumping this....

I sent an email to Ford through the main website, however, the "generic" response I received from someone who obviously did not understand my quest or questions told me to "contact SVT for my build info"! Obviously, I ALREADY HAVE all of my build info.... Ugh....

Does anyone have any inside connections to anyone within Ford or SVT who could possibly contact me and/or help with my search for further info about my Cobra?

I went onto the SVT website, but, in order to even contact them or send an email, it looks like you have to pay the membership fee to access that info, which I do not want to do (meaning, just become a member to send an email - of which may not even help me)....

Any help is appreciated - thank fellas and SVT Performance!

UPDATE: (for anyone who's reading/following)

Found out that SVT # 0014 was a 1994 Cobra Pace car. Unfortunately, it was a total loss due to a wreck and sold/parted out back in 2006.

Earliest surviving 1994 Cobra Pace Car known to exist is # 0022, currently owned by Tony S. (owner/operator of SCMC).

Still on my quest. :)

Most of the first run production are either test mules for crash testing (real cars off the assy line, not pro types) or press vehicles, esp. Being the introduction of a new body style. I'm sure there is one in the Ford factory museum, and the SVT warehouse probably had something sitting around. For instance, I remember back in 02-04 maybe, Paul's High Performance bought a 00 Cobra R from SVT, but it could never be titled for street use, since it was one of the couple test mules. It's VIN was removed, and they had to sign a ton of papers that stated it could only be for drag racing or road racing. I think they made it a pro-mod drag car. Point of the story is this could be where the others went, and with SVT all but shutting down in 2005, the info from Ford maybe lost, gone when half the crew/engineers were laid off/moved to different areas. You may have the lowest # For 94 that actually made it to dealers.

The next time I go to technical school (I'm a ford tech.) I will ask if I can get to someone higher up (since they deal with engineers), and see what I can find. I'd like to know as well. It will take a while but I'll let you know either way

Wow i love this thread!!!! My 96 cobra is #26 ever made... only reason I rebuilt my origonal motor instead of an mmr motor.Car was built August 14 1995. Every stock part has tags on it saying when it was put on the car. Even down to the center caps on the rims. Sadly i only have one stock rim. All my other parts that are stock im keeping on the side. Now your making me wonder where the low # 96 cobras are lol
