What's with the ridiculous shipping prices?

$18 to ship a firewall adjuster? Seriously? $18 shipping for a BAP wire upgrade, same with a pprv delete kit? I think today will be the last day I deal with Lethal. All of these things I listed would be about $5 thru USPS.

I agree... Always thought their shipping prices were a little outrageous. Most of the time I just say the 5% discount they give us makes the shipping a little more realistic. But it wouldn't even let me use that on the input shaft I ordered last week...

Hate to complain Lethal...but I was going to buy some reverse LED lights from you guys but you wanted $12 shipping IIRC. Went and bought the HID reverse lights from StangMods.com and got a pair for $19 with free shipping.

Btw, was running your LED reverse lights and one of them flamed out. Your website says they'll run for 80,000hrs. Not true. :nono:

Thanks for posting. We're well aware of the issue and are working to resolve it. Not too long ago we did an update on the site and it made a global change to the products/categories and the weights associated with them. Being that we've got 19,000+ products on the site it's taken some time to fix the problem without completely ruining everything else. Sometimes the problem makes a 1lb package cost $15-18 to ship and other times we get completely hosed and end up shipping a 60lb exhaust system for $20.00. So We apologize to anyone who has been inconvenienced by this and are definitely working to fix it.

Anytime a customer orders and the shipping isn't accurate or there's an inquiry about a shipping charge being high we adjust the shipping charges and refund the customer the overage.

In the meantime if you happen to be shopping online and the shipping charges don't seem right please call us to place the order so we can give you the most accurate shipping quote possible.

Thanks for the years of support!

Jared

$12.00 to ship a 1lb package to a residence in NJ isn't that far off of what list rates are. Keep in mind that we ship everything with an Indirect Signature which is an add on service but helps to protect both the customer and us from lost or stolen packages.

In regards to the LED bulb unfortunately that's what happens sometimes. You've been a customer of ours and in the game long enough to know that stuff breaks/fails. That's what warranties are for. However if you don't contact us to let us know of the issue we can't help you. If you had contacted us letting us know we would have replaced it at no cost. Without telling us though we're left in the dark. If you'd still like a replacement for the bad bulb please either email me at [email protected] or PM me and I'll take care of it for you.

Thanks, Jared

Glad I'm not the only one. Maybe they will change how they ship things if they get enough complaints.

Nate- As mentioned above we're well aware of the issue and are working to fix it right away. We've got a temporary fix but the ultimate fix is also in the works. We'll be switching over to a new shopping cart in the next few months. The plans are when we do the switch to go 100% FREE SHIPPING on everything. It's going to be a lot of work and we'll have to drop a lot of products that aren't going to work for that type of program however we're confident that it's for the best and our customers will be very happy with the change.

In the meantime if there's anything we can do for you give us a call and we'll take good care of you.

Thanks, Jared

I just sent an e-mail requesting yall to adjust my shipping. Hopefully it can be fixed. And FREE shipping is always a great thing!- just as long as yall don't raise the prices just to make it look like your getting a good deal...

Trucking in general has increased over the last few years. With extra services like signature required and the added fuel surcharges, it really does adds up fast.

Wow I didn't even know you would address such a small item so I just jumped the gun and went for another set from another vendor. Now I feel bad. I will take you up on the offer though as I never know when the new HIDs will blow. Thanks Jared you are alright in my book. Next time I'll just contact you before running my mouth. I'm sorry about that.

Nate- I already saw the order and will fix it in the morning.

In regards to free shipping it's going to be a lot of work to make it happen. Some things will need price adjustments and some things won't. Let me give you a good example that might explain why some things will need to have price increases.

Ford Racing Pilot bearing. $15.95. If you ordered that to a residence in ID the cost to ship it through Fed Ex would be over $10.00 our cost. That would mean that if we shipped it for free and still sold the item for $15.95 we'd have to pay $5.95 for the item just to break even. We'd actually still be at a loss as there's obviously more cost involved than just the item and the shipping costs. There's a lot of parts we sell which fall into that category that will need to be addressed.

Even our biggest competitors who offer free shipping have to price some of the shipping into the item or they would be lowering margins making it harder to be profitable. In addition to that we still have to offer forum/military members a discount. So to simply eat the cost of shipping and still give those discounts isn't practical for a business to stay profitable in an industry with such low margins to begin with.

Hope you have a better understanding now of what we have to work towards.

Don't feel bad. Just let us know next time if there's an issue. You know we're here for you guys and we're not going anywhere. We want to make sure you're happy so that you continue to shop with us. If there's a problem we need to know about it. As mentioned shoot me a PM or an email letting me know what bulb(s) are out and I'll replace them for you at no cost.

Thanks, Jared

Nate,

You won't see any changes on the online system as the orders are invoiced in a different program. The total refund you'll see for both of the orders is $11.44. You should see that show up in your account within the next 48 hours.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

Thanks, Jared

Shipping has gone way up over the last few years just as stated above, fuel cost, maintance, etc... We have a FedEx company account for 12 years and over the last 4 years we have recieved a letter saying that the cost will go up. So im sure its all across the board for all shipping. Hell google how much the USPS loses each year in shipping... its in the billions!!:bash:

If that's the case, then why don't more businesses use USPS?

I remember some shipping being close to $500. I wrote on the order comments that I thought that was crazy, they called me with a reduced shipping rate. I did that every other time and never over paid again. Idk if that's just me, but ive spent $10,000+ with them so idk.

If that's the case, then why don't more businesses use USPS?

The reason we don't ship USPS is because it's not a great service. Yes the rates are less than Fed Ex and UPS however there's lots of negatives.

The USPS tracking system is still way behind. Sometimes packages aren't even scanned into their system leaving the customers worrying about what's going on with the package.

Their claims take forever and it's not an easy process. That wouldn't be a problem if their delivery rate was better however it's not. So in the event a package is lost, stolen or damaged it takes at least 60 days to even get an answer whether the claim will be honored or not. During that time we're expected to ship a replacement out at our own cost hoping that eventually the claim will be approved. If it's not we're out the entire order and as a business owner that's not a good feeling.

With Fed Ex it's a different story. They've provided us excellent service over the last 6 years. We've got a rep dedicated to us making sure everything goes smooth. If we have an issue beyond what customer service can handle she'll take care of it and make it right. Their tracking system is way more advanced and the delivery rate is much higher. The percentage of lost/damaged packages from Fed Ex is minimal compared to how much we ship from them. However in the event one does get lost or stolen the claims are processed fast and there's never a question whether it will be paid or not.

We'd be taking a step backwards by offering USPS services and the entire point of what we're trying to do here is become better at what we do. Faster processing of orders, quicker shipping, real time inventory... and the list goes on. USPS unfortunately doesn't fit in that equation.

Hope that explains it better.

I wanted to thank Jared on this forum, as I did so by email. He warrantied my reverse light bulb that was way out of warranty and he didn't have to do that. And its already been sent out. That speaks volumes about the kind of operation they have going on at Lethal. You certainly have my loyalty on any future purchases regardless of what other vendors may be offering. Lethal really is the only place to go for all your part needs.
