I put a new crate engine, Gen 1 Aluminator in a F5 Cobra kit.
I put a Lund tune in the car, after driving, data logging and sending the info to Lund.
The car runs OK, but has very weak throttle tip in performance.
The engine is soft until 2800 to 3000 rpm. It then smooths out and runs very well.
Is this what I should expect from this engine.
3.55 gears, TKO 600, car wt approx 2300 lbs.
The tuner had the engine response slow to the throttle opening.
I ask for a more linear tune, which he did improve on.
I am OK with just driving around, but thought the engine would be much stronger.
It was advertised at over 500 hp, redline 8000 rpm.
Torque is just not there at low rpm.
I have a new rear end with 3.73s, but just too lazy to change out.
I am asking if this is normal for this engine?
My other 2 rides are supercharged, so I may be expecting too much.
thanks,

I would say that is normal.

What is the compression ratio of the engine?

I would also put 4.10's in it.

Deceptive

Coyotes are known for not having low end grunt. This is why they rev to 8k. If you want more low end grunt, throw on a TVS or get a 351 or 427.

thanks,
If you have the aluminator s/c it probably only exacerbates the issue

With the compression ratio and lack of hood space, a supercharger is not feasible.
I do envy those push rod engines low end tq.
I would have to do rolling starts to not get blistered by those stroker small blocks.
