Well. Said screw it and am taking and building a fresh short block for this thing. Nothing wild, but a little more than what they came with from the factory. Block will be an aluminum 3v (aluminator) block .020 over. Stock cobra crank/rods. Many 18cc dish pistons. (Will see if I can get valve reliefs.) Will be using stock 3v windage tray. I want to be around 9.0:1, but don't want to play with gasket thickness, and other stuff with starting with whatever CC equates to a 9.5:1 that Manley offers. So will probably take .015" off the heads to shoot for 8.8ish. Engine builder agrees, and is in agreement with my thoughts, even shot me some advice on things he has seen with other builds. I sat and weighed my options back and forth for awhile. Trying to make a damn decision. Looking at the blocks I have laying around doing nothing kind of did me in. Starting fresh will benefit me more in the long run than anything. Block, two of my cranks, and my rods are going up the weekend of January 14 2023. Hoping to be high 500s low 600s with stock cams and this 2.2 on pump gas. On the 2.2... Spoke with the guys at Jon Bond performance and have confirmed it can be fixed. I was quoted about 1200 to send it to them, have the rotors recoated, and the gears replaced and new bearings put in it. It could go up from there, but expecting 1200 min. Or, I can do it myself for about half that with no rotor coating or warranty... Guess I'm sending a 2.2 off.
