you're talking 385hp (2001) or 405hp (2002-2004) vs 320hp stock for stock...you'd have to be pushing ~340 rwhp or ~360rwhp (difficult to impossible with bolt-ons) to match the z's stock power level, and then there's the fact that it weighs a couple hundred pounds less than the cobra...

for what its worth just the other day I ran an [01 i think] we didnt run a super long distance but he didnt pull on me, we stayed even and thats with several bolts ons, I think to actually pull on one you would need a few tricks up your sleeve. I was maxing the car out

make sure you all are referring to regular c5's, and not c5 z06's...it's not uncommon for a bolt-on 99/01 to pull a stock c5...

There seems to be alot misinformation surrounding C5 Z06's since the C6 Z's release. Alot of Mustang drivers are under the impression that they arent all that fast..........which is entirely wrong. You would need H/C/I and every bolt on under the sun and be a damn good driver to take one out, and a good bit of luck to boot. The safe bet is a blower of some sort, and even then if you mess up your shiftin a stock one could take you out. C5 Z06 cars are extremely quick right out of the box and respond very very well to just minimal mods. All of you claiming to have beaten one with your bolt on cars either, a) raced someone who wasnt trying b) raced a HORRIBLE(worst) driver c) raced a base C5 Corvette which would make sense. Regular C5's are very close to LS1 Fbodys stock for stock, the only advantage to the Vette being weight.

To add to an earlier post:

The first year C5 ZO6 was 2001. Before 2001 the highest level performance Corvette was the FRC(fixed roof coupe) which was just a regular LS1 C5 in a lightweight coupe body and 6speed. They were produced in 99/00. In 01 the ZO6 debuted using the same Coupe body as the FRC, but with a 385 hp LS6 engine. In 02 after some tweaks, horsepower jumped to 405 and stayed there until the 5th generation Corvette ended in 2004.

Right which is why you need more then a bolt on Cobra to beat one

What do the C5 Z06's run in the 1/4? To say you need h/c/i and every bolt on is really pushing it...

Gears, full exhaust, CAI, ported intake and a tune is good for low-mid 12's.

from what i've seen, stock 02-04 z06's will trap between 112-116, which with a decent launch should be low 12's, maybe high 11's on good tires...

and to add to your last sentence, my 01 did not have headers, gears, or ported intake, and ran 12.5's on drag radials...

12.4 for the 405HP version and 12.7 for the 385HP version according to C&D. However, some drivers were claiming to be running high 11's.

The def can be low 12 second cars, with a sick driver and slicks I have seen lightly modified ones hit the 11s.

Yep, I had a friend with just a catback and slicks ran an 11.8. Dont remember his trap speed. Stock he claimed to have run consistent 12.3's-12.4's. Bone stock.
