The wife and I were driving home from dinner tonight when we saw a bright yellow RX8 a few cars ahead of us getting off the same freeway exit we were. We both end up at the same light with him in front of me because some old Jetta cut me off and got next to the Mazda. Light turns green and he takes off slowly, but fast enough to get ahead of the jetta allowing me to sneak in and get next to him :-D ...So i goose the throttle a little bit to see if he will bite... Nothing, I then see him put his right tturn signal on at the same same street i was turning on... So at this point i was thinking come on already! Its set up perfect lol. Then Bam, the second he get half way through the turn i hear his tires chirp and his exahust scream. I'm still at the light getting ready to turn, So I nail it whip my rear end out pretty good through the turn and try and play catch up. By now i'm a good 5-7 cars back.. I hit 30,40,50,60,70 then about 75-80 i see his break lights turn on so i let off at this point I was only about 1 1/2 - 2 cars behind. So I figured I closed the gap pretty good.
Now we both end up at the same light again him in the left and me in the right. There was some mini van in front of me so i thought, damn! then the van flips turn signal on and makes a right turn.. This couldent have worked out better man, i Got lucky with the breaks i was getting tonight. I look over and signal for him to roll his window down, So he does. The guy was in his late 20's early 30's. he said he bought it about a month ago it only had 1,500 miles on it. I asked him if he wanted to go from a stop and he said, sure why not. So he starts revving up and I'm break tourqing it just enough that my wheels dont spin (A4) light turns green and he both take off, I got the perfect launch. just a little bit of wheel spin and then instant hook up. He did'ent do to bad him self. I jumped out a car right off the bat and then i started walking away. I shut down around 90 and i had a good enough lead that i could see him in my rear view mirror (7-8 cars maybe) my turn was coming up so i got in the left run lane as he drove by he honked and gave me a thumbs up..
That car has a strang exhaust note, Not really ricey but not muscular at all.. If anyone has heard one before you know what i'm talking about. But all in all it was a good run, I just kept getting lucky tonight. Maybe I should head to the casino LOL
