Over 20,000 attended the funeral services of the four slain Oakland police officers yesterday, as a Oakland resident and owner of a Oakland based business, I too felt compelled to attended the services and pay my respects.

With much appreciation for the job that OPD does for our city and LEO's do for our country, I present to you some photos from the services yesterday. My sincere wish is that this day never came to pass, but having been there to see it, no finer farewell could have been orchestrated.

Over the last few years I have become increasingly involved in the LPO program sponsored by the IACP. I spend more time facilitating classes than doing my core assignments, but its well-worth the time to see light bulbs go on in the heads of police leaders as they explore the program and learn to use the tools it provides. I have taught many groups that included OPD lieutenants, captains, etc. and found them all to be truly professional people.

I work with a lieutenant (and fellow instructor) from OPD, so I we talk quite a bit off-line about his organization and how it functions. The city of Oakland is a tough beat, the police there face some really outragious challenges, not only with their population but their city government as well. They have a civilian police auditor department that makes their job even tougher. Through it all, they keep going.

My wife and I also attended the services, our hearts and prayers go out to the families of these four officers whose lives will never be the same.

As an African American I feel that I need to say that I'm sorry for the protests that were going on today in Oakland calling the shooter a hero. Sometimes people disgust me and make me wish we that stupid people couldn't breed.

Absolutely amazing, and I hate saying that about this type of funeral. But,if you have any amount of respect stand on the side of the hwy/road/street during a slain officers funeral and you will really see what the brotherhood is,god forbid that EVER happen again. What most people do not realize is we are people,we have families and are just like you.The toughest times in my career have been laying officers to rest.To say it will choke you up is only words.
RIP officers/brothers

As a former Oakland resident for 24 years, I agree there is a lot of stupid people out there and the scariest thing is that they are breeding.:bash:
