I've been reading so much on gears over the last week it is making my head spin. Here is my situation...I am torn between 4.10s and 4.30s. The cobra is on street tires, 285/35/R18 Sumitomos (I know they suck). I don't have plans to upgrade to DRs. I guess my question is...am I going to be frustrated out of my mind with traction issues with the 4.30s on street tires? Or will I have frustrations on street tires with both for that matter? Please help sort out my brain, but keep in mind the car will remain on STREET TIRES.

forgot to mention...I have full length subframe connectors going in...so take that into account also.

Thanks TDM...do you notice a huge difference over stock, and does it behave well on your street tires?

Not to hijack, but my best 60ft is a 2.1 with street tires, would the 4.30 make it higher?

4.30's if you stay N/A on a 4.6 DOHC for sure. I have 4.10's and would love a tad more grear. I had my 4.10's w/ crappy 245/45/17's and if you know how to feather the clutch you will be fine.

Thanks for all the input...I think I am going to not "fear the gear" and get the 4.30s...anyone else with input is welcome to chime in

I just got 3.73s. I only have the stock size tires and it seems to lose traction quite easily in first lol. Oh and now i'm getting 14mpg. So much fun flooring it. I couldn't imagine 410s or 430s. Maybe if i had 315 tires.

I just got 4:30's installed after having 4:10's. 4:30 is the perfect street gear for NA in these cars - imo. I love them. You won't regret it.

you won't notice a difference in gas mileage between 4.10s and 4.30s....maybe if you were on a 1000+ mile trip you might notice it, but gas mileage shouldn't be a deciding factor between the gears. i have 4.10s in mine, and if i didn't have a vortech waitign to go on, i would step up to atleast 4.30s. i love cruisin around in 5th and being able to hit the gas and actually move.

I plan on running the 4.30's with 8 pounds on a Vortech. As long as you have a good 5th gear, youre OK. 4th gear and 4200 rpm at 75 mph can get to be a bit much. Then again, the highway pull from 75 mph in 4th gear is amazing.

I have 4:30's in mine and I think they are awesome, but if I could do it all over again I would go with a 4:56. I don't do enough highway driving to not do it. DONT FEAR THE GEAR!
