My girlfriends cougar's one headlight is dull and cloudy. Are there any good products that work to restore the headlights to new without having to use sandpaper?

I saw this site and was wondering if this stuff works.

Meg's Plastic X is what everyone uses.

Apply it with a Mothers power ball or a Porter cable if you have on for best results.

Do a search.

I find the Mothers Plastic Polish to be a little more aggressive than PlastX, but either one should work. On headlights I like to use the PowerBall Mini. Lift the hood and mask the surrounding area with painter's tape as appropriate, but it should only take a few minutes to clear-up the lens. Could be one was replaced with an aftermarket and it's not holding-up; or one's simply newer.

I hate to say this but you're really prolonging the inevitable. Once the protective UV coating on the plastic is gone, the lenses are toast.

Your best option is to replace the headlamps. By the time you spend all that time and effort trying to get them looking new again, you can pick up a pair of these:

New ones cost about the same. To keep the new ones fresh, seal them with car wax once a month.

Yeh, cleaning them is fine but its only a matter of time before they get cloudy again. I've been through this on a bunch of cars and found the best thing to do is just buy a new pair. Good luck.

A good cleaner-wax is all you need. Then after that just keep it waxed!

I usually find the problem to be inside the headlight, which makes is almost impossible to fix.

Wet-sand with very fine grit sand paper and then polish with metal polish. Works great. Did it again this weekend and they look like new.
