I would never swap an auto in for daily driving. Shifting gears is too much fun.

Of your choices, I would go with the T-56.

Either one should do pretty well - but it depends on the application. For drag racing, I'd definitely go with a 5 speed. For road racing, I'd be more inclined to use a T56.

T56 viper spec. I am sure it will hold all the HP u can throw at it, and you will have that 6th gear for when on the highway

What is your question???

I prefer the new TKO 500/600 over the T-56.
Cons
T-56 More weight, more HP to turn.
Pro's
6th gear, perfect with 3.73 gears.........

Good post, keep us informed............

3.73 gears. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! more like perfect for 4.10s or 4.30s shit if I had a T56 I would put 4.56s in this beast but hey so would 99 percent of the people in this forum.

yea no one in this forums fears the gear unles syou have 500-600 hp, then most still ahve 3.73s. If I were to get the viper t56 or D&D t56 I would go with 4.30's

I'm going with 4.56's come spring time and I don't even have the .50 6th gear. I didn't buy the car for gas mileage.

I figured 500-600 rwhp would be about right for 4.10s. That should give you enough power and mph to run 10s... I think.

it all depends on your rear end gear, the gearing in the tranny, and what you want to do with your car. calculate which combination of trans/gear will put you at what rpm in all the gears after shifting from redline. don't go based on the fact that a t56 has 6 gears and is therefore better. also consider which t56. good luck!

One of the mustang mags swapped a t56 in to a 98 cobra and weighed everything (flywheel, clutch, driveshaft, fluid, tranny and driveshaft). They used an aluminum flywheel and driveshaft with the t56 and with everything the t56 weighed like 10 lbs. less than the t45 (steel driveshaft and stock flywheel). The t56 is heavier but not as much as you would think. I actually noticed a sotp difference after mine because the t56 gears are so much closer than the t45.

If you are into drag racing an getting every possible horse to the ground to get the best time I would go with the TKO. But for a road raced or mainly street car I would definitely go with the t56.
