This great looking 2001 BMW Z8 has body work designed by Henrik Fisker, is getting big money! There are 6 hours remaining on this one and the high bid is $210,000! Back in 2001 it had a Suggested Retail Price of $130,745.

The body work is really, really nice. Nicely sculptured. The stunning red and black interior goes perfectly with the silver exterior. Those Nappa leather seats look inviting and really comfortable.

I just can't get into the styling on that Z8 model. Looks a bit James Bond'ish.
Conveniently, it was the bond car in the movie "The World is not Enough"
I always liked these cars and they carried the same motor as the same year M5.

These things are so cool looking. I saw one being driven just last week and have only ever seen a handful. It's definitely a James Bond car and a great one for sure.

Seems theyre just popular (now) because theyre rare. They didnt sell well when new. They looked too much like the basic Z3, but even more plain. No way thats worth $200k plus except to a collector.

I think they are beautiful, but they have been selling for over $200k for years.

Z8s have been doing VERY well for the last few years, especially if a manual, or an Alpina (which is an auto). I have always liked them, and strongly considered one when they were in the 120-130k range. That ship sailed a long time ago.

Those engines sucked ass. ECU did not know what the hell was going on. A nightmare to diagnose.
The car drove well when everything worked, but that was not the majority of the time.

What are you talking about? I have the same engine and DME in my M5, I'd argue this is one of the most reliable V8 BMW's produced, a lot less problematic than the M62 of the era. No turbo/direct injection bullshit, no 50,000 mile rod bearing service intervals, the MSS52 DME isn't anything that crazy.

Hell the S62 was being used by teams in endurance racing all the way into 2013 because they were so robust including Dinan and Turner.
