Apparently the door at one time was keyed and my Aunt had the door repainted, okay that would explain why it's between 5-6 depending on where I measure. But when I took a reading on the hood I nearly shit myself. It's reading between 6.8 to 8! I would not have expected this at all, I can't find any obvious tape lines or anything around the edges with the hood up, but it would explain why only the hood was so dull compared to the rest of the car I guess. While the hood was in that range, the tops of the fenders right next to the hood were in the mid to upper 3's, so something happened, I just don't know what. This is a one owner car so the chance of an incident with a prior owner is out the window. Anyways, I took a stab at the trunk tonight, it was in better shape than the hood but still needed help. Deep scratch in the trunk Trying to capture swirls (really wish I had a scangrip right about now!) I went over it a few times with the Presta UCC but it wasn't doing enough. I went back and tried it with M105 and it made a small dent. Before After Remember the deep scratch? Well it's still there, but it's not nearly as noticeable anymore I got curious with this M105 and the yellow pad, so I went back to the hood and worked a small area with multiple passes. Before After It did start to bring more of a shine out on the hood and it felt smooth like the trunk, so I think when the wool pads arrive, wool + M105 is going to be the magic combo. I'll have to tape off small sections and work it with many passes to try and capture my progress. This car is absolutely kicking my ass, I didn't expect anything this bad and I was very under equipped for this kind of job. I think I'm going to wait for my wool pads to show up as these yellow pads will only make a very minor improvement with my DA, not worth my time to do it twice. I guess I'll see if I can finish up the interior this week, vacuuming it out again then scrubbing it with the stiff brush I bought for the 7424.
