I cant speak for Dan or PSR but I do know that the shop labor rate is plastered on the wall right when you walk in. I feel I'm being ripped off for fuel at this time, but I cant call up after I filled my tank and argue that the price of fuel is outrageous just cause I'm unhappy with the cost, it is what it is. I'm sure if PSR over charged you for something and it was an error on the shops part they wouldnt hesitate to refund the money. I run a shop called Brakes Plus here in town, I also have ran a place called Brake Masters for some time. The shop I currently work at has a flat rate for shocks and struts, it calls for 1.5 hours of labor for struts and .5 for shocks. Lets do the math, that is 2 hours on a newer style minivan I'll use that for example cause they have exactly that, front struts and rear shocks. A good and fast tech will have the rear shocks changed in 5-10 minutes not 30 like he got paid for, the same goes for the front struts as they shouldnt take more than 45 minutes, but that tech still gets paid an hour and a half, but if it takes him 3 hours he just lost out as now he is working for free. Next is alignment, typically those pay 1.0-1.5 depending on where you go, so if it takes him 15 minutes are you going to argue paying him the 1.0-1.5 hours he got paid for even though he got you in and out in less than book time? I think at that point you are paying for swift service and less down time and most customers are willing to pay as long as the job gets done properly in a timely fashion.
