Long story short I bought an 03 crank, stock h beam rods, and wiesco pistons with an extra set of main caps for $600. I've been doing alittle research but does anyone know anything about these? Part number 6485M91

Thanks

This photo just reinforces why I've disliked Wiseco pistons for over 30 years
Elaborate? I paid 500 for the cobra crank and manely rods so Im not too worried if the pistons are junk. Jw what i have here

Wiseco use to be big in motorcycle pistons, every piston of their's I know of in a RG500 motorcycle seized. That a 2 stroke engine and perhaps not a fair comparison but all my motorcycle friends avoided Wiseco's like the plague. They were fine in an air cooled RD but with the transition is liquid cooled and higher hp is when they ran into problems (having only 1 compression ring didn't help either). The piston crown design in your photo looks a bit bizarre I have never seen anything like that and probably for good reason. Not many people run Wiseco in performance cars and are not the first choice for mod motor builders. If I was on a budget I would be looking at Manley's I have never heard anything bad about their products. For high-end slugs take a look at Gibtec or CP. Teflon coated skirts are fine for tight PWC and NA but don't use coating of any kind on a blown motor just get bare aluminum.

Yea that crown is a bit bizarre with those protrusions adjacent to the valve reliefs which are shrouding the valves :nonono: Now I hate Wiseco even more! :(

Looks like they tried to design one piston to work on 2V, 3V, and 4V.

I wonder if the guy knew what he was doing using Wiseco's in the first place? Can you post more pics of this slug?
