What is the consensus of opinion on where to find good wiring diagrams? Not heard great things about Chiltons in recent history but I am willing to be swayed if others have had good experiences.

It seems your best bet is to hit up ebay and track down an old Ford manual.
Yep, that's exactly what I did when I needed a wiring diagram for the Fox Body I purchased recently.
I found these large, color and laminated sheets. Very easy to read and understand.

When I needed wiring diagrams for the 65 Mustang and 57 Thunderbird I got them here. Again, they are large, color and laminated sheets. Very easy to read and understand.
