If I get the windows on my car tinted to 35% (the legal limit here in WA), can I get in trouble for driving my car in CA on vacation?

the law applies to the state the car is registered in.

they might pull you over for it, but once they find out the car is registered out of state, they cant really do much.

That is not correct. A driver must follow the law of the state they are driving in. Full Faith and Credit to the laws of other states only apply to licensing, registration, and insurance.

A driver can be cited for tint that violates the law of the state they are driving in.
