Will A Midpipe + CatBack Cobra Beat A BPU Z06?

I got to agree, I have seen bone stock Z's run 12.1's. That is 100% stock; tires, intake, cb, everything.

I mean second fidel to a Z06 isnt bad. It has SUPERCAR status. Everyone talks about, "The Cobra is the best car for the money" well so is a Z06. Yeah its 50K but it out accelerates, out handles cars that cost up to $150K.

Spare me all the "For $20k differnce I can change the suspension, and weight on my Cobra" talk. I mean I can go get a gutted Fox body and turn it into an SCCA car for cheap!!!!

The Z06 is compared to 911's. NSX's, and Vipers. And aside from straight line acceleration of a Viper the Z beats them all. It certainly out handles a Viper. And it is priced 20 to 30k less than all of them.

On average, doesnt a stock 03/04 Cobra put out a fair amount more RWHP than a stock z06? I'm just curious about the power issue, not how fast the car is....

They run 11.9's in stock trim. People overlook the fact that the Cobra is a blower car. The Z06 makes damn near the same RWHP, in some cases, as ours do bone stock.

The 1.1 Liter advantage kind of helps it out, doncha think? Engine wise, the cobra is MUCH better. Everything else, Z06, hands down. A Z06 with a terminator engine would be :thumbsup:

The cobra puts down more power stock & the Z06 is faster stock.

I didnt read through this whole thread, but I walked on 2 stock Z's at the race track before I got my pulley, D/R's and Pro-Chamber on. I was running 12.50's @ 114 to their 12.70's @ 112. The look on their faces was priceless. The one guy I wasted said he pulled 360 RWHP on a Dynojet. They aren't all that folks, sorry.

I agree they are a little over rated but they should be running low 12's with that kind of power and weight. I've just never seen one run faster than a 12.8 at the track I go to. I beat one when I was totally stock, I ran a 12.6 to his 12.9.

My buddys Z06 went 12.1 @ 116.5 bone stock and then he did the Vararam intake and drag radials and his best to date is 11.5 @118.9 mph. If he was more of a drag racer I feel the could run a little quicker.

I think they are both great cars but on a roll it will take a real strong cobra to walk a Z06.

Have you seen what most used zo6 vettes are going for these days? Their value has "depreciated like crazy" as well.

my Dad has a 03 Z06 and I can tell you that a stock pullied cobra doesn't stand a chance against and tuned and properly driven Z06. I have seen and heard of 02-04 Z's bone stock going in the 11's. 45mph is a 2nd gear pull in the Z like it is in our cars the prob is hit it hard in the Z at 45 and you will blow the tires off. Our car has a Halltech intake and LS1 edit tune in it and she is putting down 385rwhp. these cars are mean if they are tuned right.

Do your math. A Cobra coupe is approx 600 lb heavier than a Z06. It will take 60 rwhp to make up and keep everything equal. Stock Z06's dyno between 355-360rwhp stock. That means that we need 420rwhp to keep equal. So guys that are pullied with 450rwhp and above don't have much to worry about. I am still not happy with that. So I am having my blower ported to make sure I have enough ponies (500rwhp) to stay AHEAD. ;-)

I'm tired of Z06 vs COBRA talk. IT IS A DRIVERS RACE.....END OF STORY!
I have never lost to a stock Z06. Even when I was all stock I could stay fender to fender with a little pull on them past 130. They are bad a$$ cars but the fact is it would take a hell of a driver to come around me from a roll. I beat most 600 bikes and hang with 750s. And you give me 10,000 to spend and I bet I hang with a turbo busa.
That being said.....You better pack a lunch if you are going to bring a chevy to my streets!
