I just bought a 2011 gt500 with the svt performance pack, and I need 4 new tires. I have searched and searched on this forum and many others and cannot find a thread with a similar situation to mine. I want to get nitto nt555r, I have heard people say that they run smaller than normal. I was thinking of going with 295-35-20 for the rears (stock is 285-35-20 on the svt pp wheels 20x9.5 rears), anyone that had my dilemma have any advice?? I'm also new to the forum, thanks!

A lot of guys buy the 305 rears 555r
I was thinking of going that route too but I saw on some forums people warned that going that wide could be too much for a 9.5 in wheel but the whole size thing with nittos confuses me

With short aspect ratios, it's not a good idea to deviate from the tire manufacturer's recommendations. I don't think any of them recommend a tire wider than a 285 on a 9.5" rim. You can always get new wheels or widen the stock wheels to go wider. I had my SVTPP rears widened to 11".

Recently had 305/35/20 G2's mount on stock 9.5" PP wheels and had no issues. At freeway speeds if I change lanes quickly the rear does feel like it sways a tad more than it used to. Discount's computer system shows stock PP wheels as 9.5" and a 305 needing 10", however the manager said the system wasn't giving him an error message so that meant it was okay to mount them.

I have the 305 35r20 on the stock 9.5 Roush wheels, have had them for over a year with 0 problems and have ran the 1/2 mile event several times.

Hey everyone thanks for the replies, I was locked out of the website for some reason. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a pair of nitto nt555r 305-35-20s. They come in soon and from the sound of it there should be no problems! Thanks for the input and I'll post here with my thoughts after!

Update: got the tires mounted today at firestone with no problems. It rained here for like 1 hour and I haven't been able to test them out. But 305-35-20 nitto nt555r fit perfectly! They look mean too!

Nick, in the future can always widen the wheels... I widened my svtpp wheels professionally to 11.25" to fit a 325/30/20 tire. It looks soooo good out back!
