I have a UPR O/R X pipe with a magnaflow catback on my 03 cobra. I had some borla stingers welded in until the other day when I hit a bump and dented one of the mufflers, so I had my magnaflows welded back in. Now the car is sooo much quieter than before when I had the magnaflows on. It almost sound like a have a catted mid pipe. Could it be because the mufflers have sat for a long time? Maybe different size piping when they welded them back in? I know they were not going to be as loud as the borla but its like I have the factory midpipe on its that quite!

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The magnaflow mufflers a much quieter than the borlas. I've had a bassani x with the borla catback, and the same x with the magnaflow catback, and the magnaflow is much more mellow. The borla catback was a hell of a lot louder. I think you got used to the borlas and maybe forgot how much softer the magnaflow mufflers are.

I had that setup, catless x and magnaflows and at idle it's pretty damn quiet. but it opens up when you give it a good amount of throttle. If they were sitting a while in a garage or something there could possibly be a mouse nest or something in one thats plugging up the exhaust that would quiet it a bit. But I feel like what comp said is probably more likely, you just got used to the loud stingers and now the mellow magnaflows aren't nearly the same.

Magnaflow is notoriously quiet on any brand, model etc. I put a system on my 2000 camaro SS and I will never own another magnaflow product as long as I am trying to make something louder. Made it more quiet than stock.

Your exhaust is...?

quite

1. to the utmost or most absolute extent or degree; absolutely; completely.

"it's quite out of the question"

synonyms:
completely, entirely, totally, wholly, absolutely, utterly, thoroughly, altogether More

"two quite different types"

very; really (used as an intensifier).

"“You've no intention of coming back?” “I'm quite sorry, but no, I have not.”"

2. to a certain or fairly significant extent or degree; fairly.

"it's quite warm outside"

synonyms:
fairly, rather, somewhat, slightly, relatively, comparatively,

I'm confused.

It's a 'brain meter' thing. LOL. The Stinger is at the top of the LOUD list, so if you're use to your Stinger setup it wouldn't be surprising that going to the Magnaflow would make it sound quieter than you remember. If you were going from a Bassani to a Magnaflow you wouldn't have noticed as much of a difference.
