The reason you are not able to purchase AMSOIL in a local parts store is because they support small business owners. What this means is corporate stores such as Advanced Auto Parts, Auto Zone and others are not approved for us to be AMSOIL retail accounts. As a dealer I can have retail accounts under my dealership provided that the company does not have more than 12 stores. Something to keep in mind is that buying in a store you are paying retail prices. If you become a preferred customer ($20/ year) you will save 25% (on average) off of retail prices. For example Signature Series 10W-30 cost $11.10 per quart retail. As a preferred customer that same quart of oil cost $7.85 per quart. You still have to pay tax and shipping. AMSOIL has 13 distribution centers, the nearest one for you is in Columbus, OH. On a typical oil change shipping cost around $10-12. At most I have seen it take no more than 4 business days to receive products once ordered. In most cases it is even quicker. Even when you buy online, a store or at a car show there is still an Independent Dealer that is assigned that type of purchase. Retail Online Catalog orders are assigned a dealer based on a few things within AMSOIL, normally assigned to the closest independent dealer. The profits and commission credits from that retail order still goes to an independent dealer. Similarly applies for preferred customer, retail accounts and commercial accounts. Stores are signed up as retail accounts by AMSOIL Dealers. Free shipping is only provided on retail orders over $100. Preferred Customers do not receive free shipping. In the end the best way to save money is by being a preferred customer. Link for Preferred Customer: http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/buy-wholesale/?subcategory=50&zo=5251070
