I had wanted to Whipple my 07 but after many videos I noticed unless you're pushing a Whipple which takes you into big HP numbers they don't seem to "whine". Also, will a strut tower brace on an 07-09 fit over the Whipple if you want to keep it?

Then I see videos like this below so I just want to know what your car sounds like and at what psi. I was wanting to stay at 700rwhp MAX and didn't think I would be pressing a Gen 3 Whipple enough to hear it. Thoughts from Whipple owners please, thanks.

Does it really matter what it sounds like? Go with whatever makes the most power. Whipple/KBs will whine more than a TVS no matter the boost level if that’s really important to you.

The sound of the blower, like the exhaust note, is of little concern to me. If you're looking for " noise", I think the KB's make more..

You sure that’s a Whipple? Sounds like the Eaton to me.

You can always do one of them sound tube mods if you'd like more sound from it.

The Whipple on my Raptor is all around noisier than the stock blower on my 13 GT500. The GT500 still has the factory resonator though, but it does not take much to hear the Whipple. Even at idle you can hear it whistle.

Well if you want 700 max you would be better off with a Gen 2 2.3.

I may be wrong, but '11-'12s are gonna make slightly more power than an '07

That guy is running a Gen2 Whipple with the following mods

Whipple 2.9L Crusher, 72lb/hr injectors, dual 65mm CJ TB, 123mm air inlet, Dynatech long tube headers, cat delete with modded factory H pipe, ATI 15% OD lower and 3"upper pulley, 20psi pump gas 93 octane, 738 RWHP 729 RWTQ. 16 degrees timing ADV.

This guy here, (I would have bought the car), has a good mod list. It has a video with the whine in the F/S Ad

Since you like the "noise", put your Gen1 blower on and have Kurgan up in Atlanta install some cams.....and tune your car. The idle at the end is GOOD NOISE

    Thanks for the replies,

Video below shoes a car with a gen 3 Whipple at the power level I would be looking for (safe) psi on pump gas and on the weak rods. If you watch on the dyno pull and the car on the street there is no whine. So, this is what made up my deciding factor I just get confused seeing other cars with the noise. I am trying to figure it out but I'm pretty sure you're going to have to spool that Whipple up to 20psi + which puts you above 700rwhp to hear it like you do a TVS. Just like the blue one Kona gave a link to which wow, amazing ride..

This is because the Whipple is more efficient which is good I just hate to take away that whine sound that I have got so used to in my car. It is just something these cars are known for.

I agree it does, just going by the title which says Whipple 2.9.

It's the torque that makes these cars fun; $3500 Whipple, for 621rwtq?

    93 Octane, stick with a 2.3 Gen1, 2 or 2R pulley it down(2.5/2.4) and it screams.

The foster mod is what the OP needs.... make any blower sound like its sitting right next to you in the cabin. Imo no better combo than a tvs gt500 at that power level on the street.

Try over 4k now! For the basic package just the blower.

As already mentioned at idle you can hear a distinct sound from the Whip 2.9. I love WOT as it makes its presence known. I'm running a 3.0 pulley you can get 17psi depending on what plugs you use. You have a lot of good options out there that certainly will give you that whine so base your choice on more of an overall package.

    Cheers,
    Ray

This was @ 16 PSI (3.25" upper; stock lower); it is now running 18 PSI (3.0" upper / stock lower) and is significantly louder. Not a Whipple though; 2.8L toaster oven. Sorry

In-car run with a Suzuki in Mexico...

The Whipple whistle at idle sounds BADA$$. I have a 3.0" pulley for 16-17psi and usually cruise with the windows up and would say that the whine heard inside the car is similar to the first video posted by OP. Outside the car, the whine is fairly loud at WOT. More importantly, you should consider where the blower makes its torque and horsepower when selecting one for your application. Do you want more torque down low or more horsepower up top (realizing that the "newest" generation of blowers may allow you to have both)? I am dyno and drive tuned by JDM, and my Whipple 2.9 Gen2 hits hard and keeps pulling... would be hard to imagine controlling more torque down low with limited traction on the street.

They are supposed to be releasing a gen 4 for our car I think for other applications it is already out and they already have gen 5 and 6 made and to come soon but they're new platforms..just imagine!

Whipple Gen3 with Gen4 rotor upgrade is available now, check out Lethal Performance. Gen5 for our GT500 platform is currently under development, waiting for the release. If I can gain 40-50 rwhp with just a blower swap, I am in. Otherwise, I am good at my current power level.
