Whipple Inlet

I just purchased an 03 cobra last weekend. It is on a very conservative tune (540hp). I would like to bump up the power to be in the 600's. I have all the supporting mods to get there except the throttle body is a ported stock. I came across a brand new whipple inlet for a single blade throttle body for very cheap. Would it be worth it to upgrade over ported stock? If so am I able to remove the inlet with the charger in the car or does it need to be removed?

You'll have to pull the blower to swap the inlets. Finding a twin bore aftermarket throttle body might be easier.

I believe I've seen people port a twin blade inlet into a single blade for a dragon tb.

No, I had a posi ported stock t/b on my gen1 2.3, stock motor, 93 octane, 19lbs of boost, 617hp and 575 tq. It drove incredible too, no sticking t/b issues like you read about. That would be your easiest/cheapest route.
Next would be to open up your stock inlet to accept a dragon t/b with remote iac. I priced this and it was going to be $700 for parts and machining. Dragon is going to flow the most.
Or just buy the new inlet and t/b and install.
Last 2 options will require blower removal for install

I would not swap TBs if your goal is only 600. Not worth it. Turn up the boost a little bit and you'll be there

600 is certainly doable on a twin blade. I personally had the dragon on an early 2.3, made 600whp on 91, 18 psi and 16° of total timing with a 3" upper stock lower. On a 2.6" upper and 21° of timing with Torco 108 in the tank, it made 670whp. Stock manifolds and o/r x pipe with wonderful driveability. A word of caution about swapping inlets though, the earlier generation whipple manufactured by Lysholm has a larger diameter bypass valve. So knowing the bypass valve provision diameter will play a huge role in whether or not the combo will work out of the box. A good machinist can make the necessary changes if needed. Good luck!!
