So I got my car dyno tuned yesterday. All was good except I was loosing charging above 5500 rpm. Before 5500 rpm it was around 13.4-13.5 Volts. Then once around 5500 rpm started going down to 11.5 volts. Tuner said I need to get my alternator fixed and then can do another pull. He said like I have red here that this is a common problem with these cars and they are over spinning at high rpms. I know the heat kills these alternators too. My car only has 15K miles on it but I guess I have seen some alternators go sooner than that. Anyhow I was going to just get a new Ford OM alternator and use the 3.0 metco alt pulley to slow it down a bit. Im still on the stock crank pulley OD. or just keep the same 2.6 alt pulley with the new alternator. What are your thoughts? I don't think I want to do the aftermarket alternators after lots of readings here. Not a guarantee in my opinion.
