I am finally in a position to buy a 2010 Shelby GT500 for cash, but I am not paying MSRP. Is there a dealer anywhere that will deal? Should I wait until December or January? Thanks for the input.

you might wait for the 2011.

if not start making offers, at the end of the month(say 3 days left) and see what you get(dealers want to make end of month number look good. another 40k+ here and there help a lot!)?
1k over invoice or maybe 1k over mrsp for an out the door deal(if msrp is 46k offer 47k out the door)?

you can be choosy and get the car you want at the price you want. like i said the 2011 models are not that far out!

I heard Shelby has a 5 year deal with Ford, which makes 2012 the final year if that's true.

BTW, does anyone know how long Shelby is contracted with Ford for sure ( other than the man himself)?

It was suppose to be a 5 year run. So that would make 2011 the last year.

Also I heard that the 2011s will be avail around April or may of 2010. Now with that the 2011 will most likely be around 3-5k more then the 2010s. If it indeed has a alum block.

Now finding a 2010 at msrp is pretty easy. Look on ebay. or call around at some dealerships. From what I am seeing is that most dealerships are out of allocations. But Ebay has a decent selection.

I have a couple of dealerships looking for one now. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

$5,000 more then a 2010................................You have to be joking

I'd bet that $5k they dont go over $1,500 if anything at all. Yes I know the FRPP aluminum block is expensive in the parts catalouge but so are lots of other expensive bits on the gt500. A price increase of that magnatude would kill off the GT500 and most consumers wouldnt know the difference between the two.

I know its really easy to put down new models but the stop the hate, the 2011 is gonna be the best ever.

:nono: last time I checked 7 plus 5 was 12:shrug: dont you work at an investment place??? wasnt one that needed a bailout was it??:poke:

that is only if you dont include the 7! and clearly 07 was the first year.

it looks like this on paper:
2007 - 1
2008 - 2
2009 - 3
2010 - 4
2011 - 5th year

7+5 is 12 because the 1st will be 8.

but again it does not matter, because ford is still making money off of the shelby. in fact they make more money on the shelby than they do with any other car/truck per unit!

I was going order a 2010 for $1500.00 over invoice..from a dealership in Pittsburgh. PM if you want his information. He had 3 allocations as of 08/01/2009. He sold one and should have two left. Also had a nice deal worked with a dealer in Oklahoma for a 2010. I could not get the numbers to work even at the deal. Needed 7 year financing and more money down to make it work so, I backed off to work a better deal on the 09. PM if you want thier names or numbers.

There is also a dealership in Florda that will find you 09's and 2010's for deals too!

I stand corrected. My apoligies to chuck.

As far as the when to by I'd would hold out till the 2011s order banks open up. However I would think you wouldnt be disappointed with the 2010. As for it to be referred to as a Shelby or Cobra I personally would like to see them bring the cobra back. But I also dont see that happening. The Shelby branding on the retro design has been a huge marketing success.
