I would like to not use spacers because then the tires would stick out just far enough to be noticable when looking at the car from the rear.
I just got a set of 17x10 1/2" wide rear FR500 wheels that are black put on my 96 Cobra today. The tires are BFGoodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radial 2, 315/35R17. My problem is on the passenger side, it is rubbing a little bit on the inside part of the tire on what I think is a bracket for a rear brake line. It has worn a pattern into the tire that is maybe 1/8 of an inch. I only drove home from where I had the tires mounted which is about 5 miles. Has anyone else had this problem with the rear right side with some pretty wide tires? If anyone has had this is there a way to fix it by bending it out of the way or anything? I would like to not use spacers because then the tires would stick out just far enough to be noticable when looking at the car from the rear. I had rear spacers on the car with my stock wheels and would like to stay away from them if its possible. Also is it still safe to keep the right rear tire as it is brand new with only 5 miles on it, or is it unsafe?
