Some of my perks of the job: Company paid 100% of my tuition for my bachelor's degree in IE. Metric fasteners... every style, every length, all the way up to grade 12.9 in the giant "miscellaneous" bin. I love that bin. Recently I got a $1500 soldering station with rework suction for free that no one wanted. It was about to get trashed. If I ever need to repair electrical shit I'm ready. Last year my vacation increased to 200 hours per year + 60 hours of PTO a year. I get to work from home occasionally when I feel like it... and whenever we have inclement weather (I'm in NC, basically if it snows I'm staying home). I have flex time, and I only work 40 hours per week M-F. Very little travel required... I hate traveling for work. I go hunting with my boss sometimes. Basically I sit on my ass at a computer most but not all day, maybe 75% of the time. I get out to the floor when I need to fix stuff, and I build my tools when the parts arrive from the machine shop. It's just enough "work with my hands" to keep me busy but not enough to tax my body. I really enjoy the balance.
