any clue?

Is there a pulley out of alignment? I a have a 2.93 upper, 4lb lower. I can't remember the exact belt size, but I believe its a 78.5" Gates Heavy duty Green belt with about 1500 miles on it.

It is squealing........was thinking of trying a Gatorback belt, but wanted to see if it was worth it or if I'd end up with the same issue

Damn Ian, I've never seen anything like that before. Looks like the belt is rubbing against something though, because it's scratched. Did you try checking to see if there is something rubbing the belt?

I'm not sure what's causing that unusual wear pattern....but after running that HD green belt for a few months now, I'm not impressed. Mine is chirping and the green color is just flat out ugly cosmetically and is getting uglier/dingy as it wears. Too many people here posted how "great" they are, but few have put any mileage on them to arrive at those opinions.

Not impressed. I think I'm going back to the regular gates black belt....at least it looks appropriate under the hood.

Strange right? The car is up right now on stands....I plan to take a look at it more closely to see what the cause could be. I don't see anything obvious, but as you mentioned, that wear isn't getting there on its own.

And C6zhombre, Agreed...I had reservations about putting a green belt under the hood, but thought I'd give it a try. Either way, I 'll be going back to a standard belt.

I run a green Gates on my 500. I clean it periodically by starting the car and then spraying some Goof Off cleaner on a rag and holding it against the green side. Looks new after doing it.

To be honest that looks like normal wear I've seen on a lot of cars. I think it just stands out and looks very pronounced with the green color on there. If that was all black you'd barely notice it.
