i have 18x9 rims all around. currently i have 275's on them. i need more.

i got a buddy who is running 315/35/17's Nitto 555R on his cobra rims. (17x9)

the tire bulge looks real good. and id liek to get the same for mine.

im looking at the 305/35/18 Nitto 555R's for my rims. will these fit?

also would 295 BFG g-Force T/A Drag Radial's fit? ive read these grab alot harder then Nitto's.

if the tire sizes will no way in hell fit a 9" rim what is the BIGGEST i could go?

i dont mind tire bulge, in fact i like the looks of big tires bulging off rims.

please let me know, thanks alot.

This is a very common question that we get all the time, and yes, the 305/35R18 will physically fit on a 9" width wheel. However, it is not a recommended application from the tire manufactures. Their are many reasons as to why it's not recommended, but mainly because it puts excessive pressure on the bead and sidewall, which in turn, can lead to tire failure. Plus, when you run a tire that is to wide for the rim, you are not utilizing or optimizing its contact patch. To answer your question, the maximum application that is recommended for the 18x9 is, a 275/35R18.

The BFG drag radial VS. the Nitto drag radial, another common question. It really depends on the performance of the vehicle. Experimentation is best, but IMO, The BFG is a better competition tire. This also seems to be the consensus with the majority of our customers who have traction issues. The BFG has a much softer rubber compound, and gives a little more flex in the sidewall than the Nitto's. However, the BFG will get half the life of the Nitto’s, so it's a trade off.
