What programs have you used to learn another language?

Hello all,

I am 24 years old, and one of my biggest regrets in life was not learning to speak another language. My mother is 100% Greek, and speaks it fluently along with her entire side of the family. Even in college, Greek was never offered, and I never took it upon myself to learn. Growing up, at my church I took Greek School classes for quite a few years but all you are ever taught in those are how to read and verbs lol. I can read a book out loud perfectly, know the alphabet, have a minimal vocabulary, but want to become fluent.

I have heard of the obvious Rosetta Stone, but is that program any good? Does anyone have any experience with programs they have used to learn a second language?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Ray

Rosetta Stone taught my ex quite a bit of Russian when we first started dating.

Coworkers used it for Spanish and French with great success.

I highly recommend that software, definitely makes learning a language easier.

I've read a lot of reviews from sites that have said that DuoLingo is the best free app out there. Taking a class at the closest community college might be your best bet.

I got the free first Rosetta lesson. It seemed like if you put in the time, and a lot of it, it would work.

Otherwise total immersion is the best way.

Self taught spanish in high school (teacher was a ****ing moron, and I was required to take 2 years to graduate, figured may as well learn the language)

So I'm fluent in Spanish (recently talked with 2 blokes from Buenos Aires on my cruise)

Briefly taught myself Italian on Rosetta Stone. Not bad. I could see it being useful, but very dry.

Why pay and use Rosetta Stone? Just download the Daemon lite tools program and run it through that. Get the program through the P Bay. This does not infer that I have done this, Just for the record lol
