When I was younger I had gone to the New York Auto Show at the Javits center and knew Ford was going to show the new Shelby GT500 so I had to go. Drove my 03 Cobra ( original owner I was :) ) there with my friend that owned a supra at the time. I wanted to buy it but was out of my reach with money unfortunately. Then the 13/14 I read about being 662 HP and wanted to get one so bad but again funds just weren't there. Was getting married in 13, bought a house in 12 so it just wasn't going to happen and had to wait and hope. I was planning on buying it for retirement at 48 as a gift to myself. Speed time up, 2020 came around and covid with it. Made me think about life and will I get to retirement lol. So some funds came up that I can tap into ( which I did ) and discussed it with my wife if she is ok with my buying my dream car. She said yes ( which she really didn't want me to do because she's always throwing it in my face now?) I was looking all over the Country to find the right one and went back to my roots ( here at svtperformance ) and put in the "WTB" part that I was looking for one. Mike had reached out to me on here and said he was listing his car for sale to see if I was interested in it. It had the main things I wanted such as the rims and seats but the color was red ( which I never liked ) so turned him down. After a few days of looking at the car over and over again via pictures I reached back out to him to set a date to come out. It was 6 to 8 hours away for a drive so I had to have someone come out with me to drive in case I bought the car. If my cousin decided he wasn't going to come then this never would have happened. So we get out there, drive the car and fell in love with it. There was a lot of trust on both parties of other things too which we both agreed to and everything worked out. Dreams do come true, sometimes you just have to be patient, and wait for the right time. I sold my 03 cobra, but I will not sell this car as I always loved the old Shelby GT500s (1968 in particular)
