I remembered Mike's screen name, MLCC. I think it was his Mid Life Crisis Car.

I cannot compare forced induction on the 99's. KB was always ready. Low end tq makes the car fun to drive in any gear. KB tuner advised max 9 lbs boost, due to weak rods.
I feel 9 lbs was conservative, but did not feel like finding out where its limits were.

... But on the flip side let's be honest, how many people actually swap blowers every couple of years?
....

ummm me! haha. I originally wanted to get the KB for my 01 but I sold the 01 for an 03 and KB that. Your easiest option now is do an eaton swap and instead of the Eaton use a KB or Whipple or tvs. This will give you a huge option of blowers.

I remember 2 owners that also bought the original kits. Cadman had a green one. I ran into him and asked if he still had his car. Unfortunately he got T-boned and totaled the car. I think he daily drove it.
Mike Cipollo from Philly, I think bought a non intercooled one, added the intercooler later, I think.
He had some tuning issues and in the end used Jon Lund. Jon was just becoming recognized as a tuner.
Not heard from Mike, super guy, since.
I remember Double "O", now that he has posted.
It was a lot of fun, bringing the Cobra up to a level it deserved.
I was not aware of the 1.7 L blower, am now unsure which I might have. Not as issue as it is good as it sits.
Anyone remember the other KB kit owners?
There was another here but cant remember his name...we had ours tuned the same day ssme dyno...mine was sooooo rich lol

Pete from sct tuned us

Then i had mine tuned by hermann and its was much better

You mean the Dodge Neon timing belt pulleys?

No joke that's what they are. I know because they used to use the same pulleys on the 1.7 and 2.1 2v kits. I had a set rust after a week.
Yup...****in junk

I need to get another set or two lol

Why? You can probably get some 90mm metco idlers to fit like I did on my 2.1 2v kit. From the picture I've seen on the net the 99/01 kit uses the same idler/alternator mount plate. I honestly don't see why it won't work.

Kenne bell also makes upgraded idlers that they'll sell you too. They don't look as good as metco though.

Good to see some fresher info on this kit. Have a 2.1 intercooled kit with a reported 2.75 inch pulley incoming this week.
Things like the metro idlers I haven’t seen anywhere besides this post. Tough looking up posts on the KB kit from 2004 and 2005

2.75" upper pulley might be pretty stout. I think mine has a 3", maybe 3 1/8" ,,,,about 9+ lbs.
If you end up swapping pulleys, be sure to read the procedure and needed tools.
The bolt has a hole drilled 90* through the bolt and you need to make sure everything is oil free. Cannot remember tq for bolt. I might have an extra pulley if needed.

thanks. Good to know. Supposed to make 13-14 lbs of boost on a built motor. Ordered the install manual today and as soon as I get a good look at everything I am going to buy the pulley tool and possibly a smaller pulley. Worried about belt slip so may have to go 8 rib first.

Edit. It is a 2.75 pulley.

If you're refering to the KB improved idlers yes they will fit your 1.7.

The metco pulleys will also fit but again you'll need custom spacers made.

The metco pulleys will also work in place of the stock idler on the passenger side next to where the alternator gets mounted fyi.
