The Raptor is built in Dearborn, MI in a factory that produces normal F150s. When they start building a new model year for the raptor they have to reposition all the machinery in order to fit the Raptors wheelbase. This prevent the factory from making anything other than Ford Raptors. The 2015 F150 has a completely new body style which requires the factory to be retooled to build the new trucks. They need all their factories in order to meet the demand for the newer F150 truck. Therefore they are skipping the 2015 model year for the Raptor. The 2015 model year is also required to follow new economy standards. Therefore they are discontinuing production of the 6.2 V8. In turn Ford and SVT need to find a new engine capable of meeting the standards of the Raptor. I wouldn't plan on seeing a Gen II Raptor until at least the 2016 model year. That being said you can still find 2014 Raptors on lots that were ordered by people who can no longer meet the monetary obligation to bring it home. I'm sure some dealership who sell a lot of Raptors also have gotten shipments of Raptors for their lots. A lot of these dealership will sucker you in with a listing around MSRP only to tell you that there is a dealer markup on top of the MSRP price. I have seen markups as high as $20,000 on some window stickers. I'm sure there are dealerships that will sell around MSRP. So yes it is probably possible to find a raptor around $55,000. You just have to find the correct dealer. Best of luck on your purchase if you decide to pull the trigger.
