I want this done on our 90 convertible. I hear it's more involved with stock bracing on convertibles.
Is that due to existing bracing being in the way of the subframe connectors? Or convertible subframe connectors have additional bracing that needs to be welded in. I’ve only driven my car the short drive home from the shop but I could already tell a big difference.

I believe it's because of the existing stock bracing. Maximum Motorsports doesn't have a specific kit for convertibles and says they will work with some modifications. I have a guy that's welded in the ones on my 03 cobra. He is certified on installing roll cages and tubbing rear ends. Does excellent work.

It is more work as you have to remove the existing bracing first, the MM install instructions have a lot of detail for the verts if you want the specifics. I noticed a huge improvement when I installed the SFC's on my coupe.

Ugh, I'm getting antsy. The convertible is ready to try and start after replacing lower intake manifold gaskets, water pump, thermostat, reman injectors and new frp.

But it's super cold outside, like zero degrees.... tempted to crack the overhead door open and try to start.

I'd have to re-torque lower intake manifold bolts, change oil, burp cooling system, check for leaks and set timing....

Or wait for a warmer day?

I dunno man, I'm allergic to weather under 40 degrees so it would be a no for me dog.
Trust me, I hope to retire somewhere warmer year around someday.

Looks like possiblity 40* in 7-10 days. It's going to be super cold here until then. I have the shop set at 63*, but I'd be letting in cold air. I just want to try and start and see what I got myself into.

Get some exhaust pipes, and cut a exit port in your garage door, something like this:

I've been wanting to do that for a couple years now. I don't feel like doing it in the winter months though. I don't know if I trust myself cutting...

Hole saw. Super easy, start drilling, get about half way through (making sure the pilot bit makes it through), then go to the other side, use the pilot hole to start drilling from the other side. This will eliminate tear out on the other side if the door is wood, but will also be a cleaner cut, if its a foam core metal door

I use HD rubber tubing over exhaust like this.

and if I need longer, I actually use 2.5" PVC tubing, as exh is cool enough after the first 11 feet of rubber hose. I just crack bottom of door. Lets out some heat, but not that bad.

Thanks, I've been wanting to do this. Just afraid I'll ruin the door.

I plan on hopefully installing my new intake manifold and valve covers this weekend. But I've been saying that for a month already.

We have some heat waves coming through! Started up the convertible yesterday, zero leaks, then changed the oil.

Now just finished re-torquing the lower intake manifold bolts and set timing.

Very pleased, looks much cleaner under the hood.
