For describing a street takeover car? That’s weird…

You have a bad experience with them?
Personally no, I've seen plenty of MMR failures to keep me away. When I pulled the timing cove off my turbo'd s197 last year and saw their timing guides. I immediately pulled them off and replaced them stock pieces.

Chrome inserts always look great with Sonic Blue paint. Especially with factory chrome wheels.

Was it fairly easy removing the old black letters?

I'm curious about this too. I have some Cobra polished letters I want to remove off my rear bumper.

I have the raised black letters and I'm going to remove when it warms up.

So to answer this, yes and no. I knew based on some older videos of my car ive found on YouTube that it had “American flag” inserts as of 6-ish years ago. So I knew the adhesive was only about that old. I also just hoped the paint wasn’t all messed up under it. So here’s a little breakdown of where I went wrong and what I did:

Right way: heat gun on low/hair dryer, fishing line, adhesive remover. Rolling stool, headlamp, music, patience.

Wrong way: heat gun on low/hi, trim removal tools.

I didn’t have fishing line at first, so I tried heat gun and trim tools. The trim tools were melting so i wrapped a thin pop rivet removal tool in electric tape and tried that, but put a very tiny indentation in the clear coat. So I stopped and ordered fishing line.

The line was from Amazon and claimed to be 43lb test. I believe it was less as I broke quite a bit of this in the process but it did work. I basically heated the emblems for about 30 seconds with the heat gun on low and began flossing with the fishing line. It was tedious, especially the O and the B as the letters inherently had longer runs with more adhesive holding them down. I found working left to right was easiest, and as I got a side removed I would slightly bend the letter up so I could snake the line in again. I’d reheat the letter every 30 seconds or so for about 10 seconds to keep the adhesive soft. The whole project start to finish was a little over an hour.

If I had to do it over I’d get name brand fishing line and a slightly higher test rating. I broke a lot of line because I believe my China line was more for crafting and less for fishing and strength.

Ok perfect. The fishing line method is the route I would take anyway for sure. I wanted to remove my polished letters and possibly either leave it with none on the bumper, or maybe find someone that makes polished outlined letters, or possibly black outlined.

I tried this combo, still no good.

i had the same problem with my coupe, which was a surprise to me because it was such a low mile car when i first bought it. but i guess sitting for so long and not getting driven regularly hardens the seals and makes them brittle.

i replaced them a few years ago when i pulled the engine, now no more blue smoke on startup.

Same. Bought the car with 26k miles and I knew up from the seals were on their way out. So, I have a fresh set of foxlake heads to go on in boxes. It's just becoming embarrassing now.

Well, shit my pants tonight. I’ve been chasing a P0340 code which doesn’t effect drivability and is sporadic. Research told me aftermarket cam gears can give a false reading and cause it. Put the bore scope in and confirmed they were aftermarket Comp adjustable gears. Then saw picture two, where it looked like a bolt was backing its way out!!!

So I pooped a little, bumped the engine around and got a better look….only to find picture three, where the oval hole gave the illusion it was backing it out from above. Crisis averted.

Great info that should help others going forward. (y) I had always heard that heat and fishing line works the best.

Took ol girl off her Dolleys today for the first time since November I believe. Gave her a good bath, and drove her 35 or so miles. Gonna change the oil, and some other odds and ends. I also threw her new wheels on. Went to lunch with my family today, took her out for that.

Man, white has been looking really good to me lately. Wheels look sick to!

It looks especially good without the tinted tail lights.

It’s growing on me slowly. Not enough to make me want a sonic blue less though. Haha, the tinted tail lights have been off for maybe 2-3 years or so?

How do you like those floor lifts/jacks?
For the car? Awesome. Enough room to work under and store the car for the winter. I did have an issue where I used them to lift my zero turn then couldn’t get them down. Nothing worked, so I brought the hydraulic cylinders to a show who found nothing wrong. Weird.
Is this where you wanna be when Jesus comes back? Making fun of poor little Joe dirt?

When I say I’ve been searching for the right one for a while I mean that. I’ve been in contact with a gentlemen in Texas who’s got a 54k mile Coupe. Just waiting on some updated photos, and I’ll be on my way there. Ooooooorrrrr if @PC03GT ever takes my Luis Vuitton bag of hundreds! :D
