[QUOTE="mu22stang, post: 11677116, member: 81298"] I'm not so sure about this statement. I'm with you on using a gauge that shows values. I use an Aeroforce myself to monitor ECT's. However, knowing what the factory gauge is telling you is key. It gives you general idea of running temperature. If it's fake, why does it read normal when the ECT is safe? Why does it approach the red or read red when it's beginning overheat? Why does it read low when the engine is cold? You'll have to bring the tech on the claim that it's for "show" for me to buy into the idea that a manufacturer would give a fake gauge just to appease owners. The factory oil pressure gauge is an example. It's a pressure switch that only responds to being above or below a specific oil pressure (I'm not sure what psi). If pressure is above this set psi, the gauge reads normal, below and it drops to the red. Yes, it is pretty much a dummy gauge, but when you understand the functionality, you realize it's not a fake. [B]Here's an excellent experiment performed by an SVTP member, albeit for the SN-95. They also rarely reduce the functionality of something for later year models. With that in mind, I can't imagine they decided to make the factory ECT gauge FAKE on the newer, hotter, supercharged Cobras. They may have tweaked the range of the gauge, made the scale non-linear, or something similar. But, I am extremely doubtful that it's fake. So, if you got the tech on your claim, bring it. Monitoring ECT's with my Aeroforce, my coolant temp reaches and levels off at 176*F with the ambient temps at 80*F or below (Reische 170 tstat).
