Overall, I would say kids today are much whinier than even 10 years ago. Overly dramatic about things too. Thank you for the kind words. One thing I've noticed is many parents want to be their child's best friend instead of wearing the hat of parent/disciplinarian. Are we talking computer/cellphone/internet/television programming or the liberal mindset mentality? A lot of good points here I agree with. Inre your daughter I have witnessed many of our youth playing the victimized role when they are really not a victim at all. Many seem to relish the "woe is me" mentality. Way too much time is spent on social media and way too much importance is placed upon it. About schools, I don't know what high school and colleges are like these days but there are no progressive mentalities being imposed on the elementary kids by the teachers, especially my school where the average teacher age is well over 40. We had a few young guns here but they didn't last too long. Too tough a neighborhood and too many "old school" instructors who are not advocates of the "everyone is special and a winner" mentality. Our students know when we're happy with them and definitely know when we are not.
